I interviewed 6 companies before I picked (unfortunately) Cardinal Moving Systems. Their salesgirl, Naomi, who claims to be from Australia is very convincing says es" to everything you want to get the job. She assured me my household goods would go out of Los Angels port from Tucson, Arizona to Costa Rica in 4-6 weeks and that Cardinal had no complaints registered. Ha if I had only looked online. My things were trucked to Miami after they held them in some unknown place (not the warehouse in Phoenix like the packers said) and arrived at customs here TWO MONTHS LATE. No apologies, no email responds back from Naomi salesgirls either . Now a MaryJo was handling my account. One friday after me protesting the photocopying of a credit card (dangerous practice) she called me and said to fax the card form to them and they would remove the hold at customs. After I did that the story changed AGAIN.
Originally they took my charge card twice-once to reserve my pickup day and next for $3,000 to ship my household goods off. I had to argue with the "manager" Dan to not charge me the whole $5,000 upfront. I took a seminar in Costa Rica warning me about Usa companies who take all your money upfront and 6 months later still no goods. He finally agreed but failed to tell me that his new definition of "pay by credit card" would be full photographs of both sides of card sent over the airwaves (revealing the CVV code on back). My card company said his conduct was suspicious and that perhaps the owner was sending this overseas. Cardinal put a hold on my stuff and refuses to release it even though I had already paid my customs broker for import etc. The owner named Lior Oren(?) who won't divulge he is the owner is not a usa citizen and neither was the managing packer who came to my house. That young man refused to make a correct packing list by recording the serial numbers of my appliances and electronics. I had to call the main office and insist as I knew otherwise Costa Rica charges a 80% tax and considers it to be new. He said there was "no room on the list" but there was at lease 2 inches to write the #. He also made racial comments about the Prayer rug I had that was a gift to my deceased mother making comments over the phone in Hebrew when I asked that the serial # be properly documented. This is unacceptable behavior towards a client but I was stuck with them as flying out in a few days to Costa Rica.
It is 3 months later, my possessions are still in a warehouse and Cardinal Moving/Hercules Moving has forced me to take pictures of my credit card and send to a woman named Lee who made a story up about how "my info would only go to her then be stored in a safe for awhile". She said "we only have 7 complaints in the last 12 months"and how big the company is. I looked online and it shows a small company with a few trucks. Lior the owner hides behind the lines and refuses to let any employee say he is the owner. I was leaving a message on his phone when he picked up and said "who is this". I asked if he was the owner and he refused to answer only stating will talk to my supervisor and see if they can help you."Yes, the supervisor who works for him. MaryJo who contacted me said it is company policy to hold goods unless you send photos of your credit card code on back and said I had paid "by check to ship". WRONG as I have a copy of the form I filled where they have my signature on file along with credit card number. Employee (?) Lee claims it is to "protect the company". You bet it is. They ignored the damage they did to the front of my home with their Pensky rent a truck (strange for such a big company to bring a rental truck) and I had to ask for a claim form 3 times-still none. Never repaired the damages so I had to pay to have it done-holes large enough to let rain in.
They know that my credit card would either go through or not go through but because of their suspicious behavior, denigrating comments, lies to get the business one has to wonder exactly who they are and where the money you pay and card copies are really going in the end. So many customers have taken action when wronged & filed suites they lost that they want to be assured to have no monetary repercussions on them where they have to refund or compensate on their end. Shameful business. They also attempted to blackmail we with the comment "customs will start charging you for storage soon". My attempts to pay them have been thwarted at every turn with unorthodox requests.
I was allowed by customs to look at my household goods in the warehouse and saw that Cardinal had unboxed my temporpedic mattress placing it directly on a pallet and stacked boxes and tables on top of it which stayed that way for 3 months now. I paid $30 for the box and it was removed in Phoenix and repacked poorly probably putting permanent dents in the expensive mattress. Their service is only to serve themselves.
