In December, 2009, my husband received a phone call from Care Credit. They claimed that we were two months behind on our payments and demanded that we make a payment of $330 by December 31, 2009 or our credit would be affected. My husband proceeded to tell the creditor that we didn't have $330 and asked if we could schedule the payment for January 14th (the due date). She told him the payment HAD to be made by December 31st.

Our payments are due by the 14th of each month, and I must admit, our December payment WAS late by 3 days. I scheduled a payment online immediately when I realized I had forgotten to make the payment, but apparently by this time, they turned our account over to collections. My husband was unaware that our payments were NOT behind, and due to the persistent and pushy creditor he hesitantly authorized the payment of $330. After I realized this I told him we weren't behind and that payment did not need to be made. I went online to check the "scheduled payments" but there was no $330 payment scheduled to be taken out, so I forgot about the whole situation.

On January 1 I was on vacation and went online to check me bank account. I was astonished to see a payment of $330 on my account that had caused me to overdraft by $202!! I immediately called my bank and disputed this charge, and told them they had lied to my husband about being late on our payments. The overdraft charges for this one charge are $315!!! My husband called Care Credit and not only was customer service the most unhelpful and rude service I have ever dealt with, they hardly spoke a word on English. My husband tried to explain what happened and the only thing they told my husband was "Sir, there's nothing I do for you."

My husband called Care Credit again after the holiday was over, and asked to speak to management about the situation. She was extremely rude, and hardly willing to help. We asked that they reimburse us for some of the fees we were charged due to their horrible record keeping habits. She said that they wouldn't do that. She then asked my husband for his phone number and said she would review the phone call of him authorizing the charge and get back to him. She never called him back. My husband then called them back 3 days later to ask if they had reviewed the call. First, they couldn't find any notes about a call being reviewed. He then asked to hear the phone call himself, because he knew they told him we were 2 months behind and we weren't, and the creditor also told him it had to be paid by December 31st or it would affect his credit, and customer service told him it wasn't due until January 14th.

To this day, I'm awaiting the results of the disputed charge through my bank. I am extremely upset and would hope that someone will read this story and think otherwise about dealing with these crooks!! They are liars, thieves, and have horrible customer service. I will NEVER EVER use them to finance any type of medical procedure again, and I hope others will hear my story and reconsider using them as well.
