I found them on Craigs list that should have been my first clue. I was under the impression that this was a government service or an actual job agency. When you walk into the center, you get a feeling that this place is temporary. The walls are mostly bare except for a few inspirational posters, and 5-8 desks with sales people. Each sales person is hard selling their supposed service. Joe my sales person was working hard to get my money. He claimed I could get a job for 13-15 dollars an hour, without ANY prior information on my job info, as long as I pay him 320 dollars for 3 months of service. He kept trying to pressure me into paying for this service. He did not name one company, and there was only one computer in the back, which we could not access to print a resume.

Joe in the depth of our conversation revealed that he has only been there for a week and he was a FELON!! HE asked me what my bank was and tried to tell me their service was better than my free job placement program at my old college, and that it cost more because I had to go and pay for school. If they have an in-depth database full of jobs and can get me interview guaranteed, then WHERE ARE THE COMPUTERS! Real agencies have computers; do not make you pay, because employers pay them for quality applicants not the other way around. Oh he wanted another interview on my husbands payday. The whole place is just suspicious and reminds me of every scam I have ever come across.

My advice if it looks temporary, the place is hiring felons, and they want money up front then it is a scam. AVOID Career Development Center of Atlanta

Everything you have stated is exactly the truth! Upon arrival, I noticed the same thing...not a computer in sight. What type of office can run without the one piece of equipment that is very necessary for the type of service you are providing? I quickly got up and left when the guy interviewing me asked for $340! I came home and filed a complaint with the BBB. Hopefully they'll be shut down soon.

I am sure you are one of the hard selling scammers, trying to recover from this bad reputation. No one is that stupid. If it looks like a scam, smells like a scam, it probably is a scam.
Check out the Better Business Bureau website. They have been open only a few weeks and already have 2 complaints. That is pretty bad. Also on the website is an article about how to detect employment scams.

I recently moved to the Atlanta, GA area and was desperately seeking employment.  I too found an ad on craigslist referencing this company.  However the ad indicated that it was some sort of a career center and that it had a fee for its service and that it did not guarantee employment for its services.  I noticed that other services were provided such as resumes, resource classes and job listings.  I decided to go in for an appointment to see if this was the type of service I was looking for. The representatives were very friendly and helpful during the interview.  The service was presented to me and a visual aide was shown describing the benefits of the service.  I was explained that there was a one-time fee of $340 should I decide to join their membership program. They were eager for me to pay that day, however I wanted to review this with my husband before I made a commitment.  After a few calls from my representative, his name was Shawn, he called me and said that he just received a position as a debt collector and said he could help me out with that position if I could return for an appointment.  I went into his office later that day, and 20 minutes after paying my money, I was immediately set up for the interview with the company for the debt collector position and hired the same day.  Now three weeks later I am presently still employed and very happy with the services provided.  Thank you Career Development Center of Atlanta for offering such a great service.
