I just want to start by saying that CarHop and their finance company UAC have got to be one of the worst places to deal with. No matter if your credit is bad or not, no one should have to go through what my boyfriend had to endure with the vehicle he purchased from them. If you can, I would suggest that you avoid buying from them at all costs.
The customer service of the individual locations has A LOT to be desired. They, for the most part, ignore people that pull up on their lot and you have to chase them down to get ANY kind of assistance and thats only if they have time to deal with you. The company they use to finance the vehicles is no better, rude customer service as well as people that are incapable of processing any kind of change to your account on (in our case) the first, second or even the third time it was requested, even though my boyfriend was told that the changes were made. UAC, is also, RELENTLESS when it comes to your payments because if you are even half a day late they are all over calling you and EVERY one of the 10-12 references that they require you to supply at the time of the purchase.

The story of the vehicle that was bought by my boyfriend is this:
He went to the lot in Auburn, WA and was finally able to settle on a truck that he found located in Tacoma, which he had to go pick up and bring back to Auburn to get the sale done. Upon signing the paperwork, Carhop then released any and all responsibility for the vehicle and refused to even speak with him about it again. From almost day one the truck had nothing but mechanical issues all be it they started out small and he thought that he could fix them easily because this was a truck he had wanted for quite awhile and was willing to do it. Of course there is only a money back guarantee for 3 days for the lemons they sell and that doesn't help when the problems only get bigger after you have the vehicle for more than that time frame. Within 3-4 months the transmission went out and they FINALLY fixed that with the warranty that you HAVE to buy for almost $4000.00 when you purchase ANY vehicle from them. The truck has NEVER had heat and the warranty company of course doesn't cover issues of that nature. So he had to try to fix that issue out of his own pocket by doing a multiplicity of different repairs to try to resolve the problem, which cost quite a pretty penny. Also within that time frame and while trying to fix the problem with the heat, he found that the water wasn't flowing right to keep the vehicle from overheating and as such he had to try to fix that problem as well. In doing so he found that the radiator as well as the heater core were FULL of rust and even after flushing the system multiple times there was still rust backing it up. Just an FYI to any potential clients out there, the warranty they offer does not cover even close to half of the problems, in my opinion, that you will get from a vehicle being sold by that company, this is based the details above. The only effort to make the vehicle sale ready by CarHop while they had it in their possession was to detail the inside and to try and make the engine LOOK pretty but that doesn't help when all the problems happen after you leave their lot and after the 3 little days that they offer for returns.

The issues with this vehicle got so bad that he simply wanted to return it and take the hit on his credit to get rid of the problems. Of course even trying to do that, he ran into nothing but issues because he simply couldn't get an answer from UAC on how to handle the situation. Finally we simply just dropped the vehicle off at the dealership that he purchased it from because we couldn't get any kind of resolution from UAC and let me tell you the onsite manager at CarHop was SO rude. When I asked for him to just give me something in writing stating that he was receiving the keys and that they had the truck he simply stated "I don't want to get involved so NO, I am not doing that for you" and in the end I had to leave without any proof that the vehicle was in their possession. That right there should show you exactly how much they DON'T care about the customer or their needs.

So, "Caveat Emptor", "Buyer Beware" when dealing with CarHop or UAC, they put a new spin on the phrase "We are here to help", because truthfully they aren't, and its all a money game to them.
