I bought a car from CarHop in a bind, car went out and I needed one fast. I was sold a car that check enginge light came on second day I owned it. I took it to the reccomended repair shop, only to find that the check engine light came on the day after it came out of the shop. I had the car back in the shop and they had to order a part, said they would call me, that was 2 weeks ago. Recently I missed my mid month payment due to personal error and family issues over Thanksgiving when they were supposed to take it out. UAC and their Rude, Inconsiderate and quite Unwilling to Help credit Bullies call me 4 times per day and now at work after I even spoke to them directly and told them I can make a double payment next week on payday. They still harass and badger me daily at home and at work. The car has not run right since purchase and No One seems to step up and make an effort to help or work with me. I would love to turn this Piece of Crap they sold me in, but from current experience and reading the reviews, I may be stuck with this vehicle. Do Not Waste Your Money or Time with UAC or anyone they use to prey on those who need immediate help, you will have more money and less wasted time by just taking the Bus!!

The lemon law applies to new vehicles, not used vehicles

AUTHOR: FloridaNative - ()

Look up your state's statutes for the Lemon Law to see what criteria your car has to meet in order to qualify for the Lemon Law benefits. Generally the lemon law applies to NEW VEHICLES only.   Based on your post, it sounds like you have purchased a used vehicle and not a new one so it is not likely that you will see any remedy via your state's Lemon Laws.

As to the repair issue, when you buy a vehicle the repairs are on you. Some people get warranties to help with the repair costs, but the warranties are only as good as the company that backs the warranty. CARHOP has a reputation for not repairing the vehicle but only "fixing" it long enough to drive off the lot. Since it is your vehicle, it really is your choice to either use a good mechanic or take it to CARHOP for their bandaid type fix.

The missed payments are another thing altogether. You borrowed the money to buy the vehicle. The lender and the dealer are two separate entities, even if they are in the same building.  You may not like the dealership or even the vehicle with its repair needs, but that does not relieve you of making the payments ontime. Since you just purchased this vehicle you are in real danger of losing it to repo very quickly since you haven't been able to make the payments ontime. If the vehicle is repossessed you will still owe the remaining balance of the loan after the vehicle is sold - and if it is a CARHOP vehicle, the remaining balance will be huge. At that point you will be in a real bind: no vehicle and yet you will still have to make the vehicle payment!

I don't work for CARHOP or any dealership or lender, but I know how this stuff works. Its best to get your back payments caught up, get the car fixed and then sell it if you can so you aren't stuck with the payments and a bad car. If you do that right away you will have to bring money to closing as you are surely upside down in value. Good luck.

Here We Go Again

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

Whether or not you have had problems with the car has NOTHING to do with the contract YOU signed...the contract in which YOU agreed to make each and every payment on time.  That same contract does not say they will "help" you or give you a pass on making the payment.  YOU agreed to the terms and its up to YOU to live up to those terms.  If you want their bill collectors to stop calling you, then do what you said you would do, pay your bills on time.  Since this is a subprime lender, its a dead giveaway you are quite experienced in not paying your bills on time for whatever excuse you wish to use.  Finally, don't waste the time or effort...I don't work for them!
