I have been shopping at Carnival Food in heath since they forst opened nearly 20 years ago. I know where everything is and must like going there because I'm a frequent customer, and have written them a lot of checks.  My current check number is over 17,000 and my credit score is 790 out of a possible.

When balancing my checkbook, I noticed a check to Carnival cleared my account for exactly twice the amount I wrote it for. I knew this had to be Carnivals mistake. I pointed it out to my bank, and they suggested I could dispute the charge. I thought this would open a dialogue, like disputing a credit card charge.

Several weeks later, stores all over town were refusing my checks. When Carnival refused my check, their cash register gave me a slip of paper with Telecheck phone number. I called Telecheck, but could not speak to a live person. Telechecks recorded message stated that I was determined to be a statistical risk. Since I could not speak to anyone at telecheck, I went to their website, and requested my file and sent them a replacment check for the original amount in my checkbook.

I asked Carnival to please look up this disputed transaction, and they told me it would be better if I had my bank fax a request for this check/transaction, so I did that the day before I left for a 2 1/2 week vacation, expecting the problem to be solved by the time I returned home.

When I returned, my bank had not heard from Carnival, and I had a collection notice from telecheck for two times the original amount, plus a $30 fee. I called Carnival and they said the request from the bank had been ignored since it asked for a check, and since they hand the checks back, they didn't have the check.

All along Carnival said I should have come to them first I would not have had these problems, but found a great deal of reluctance on their part to look up the disputed transaction. They asked if the charge appeared twice in my checking account, and since it did not Carnival felt my hand written amount in my checkbook did not constitute proof.

Two days after Carnival started looking for the disputed transaction, they found it. I had been charged twice for the same prescription in their pharmacy. They asked if I got it filled twice. I told them I would not have written down the amount in my check book if I had and I doubted that would even be legal.

Carnival paid the creditors/collection agency used by Telecheck, and admited theur fault, but still refused to accept my checks until Telechecks system had cleared me, which was suposed to take a week. Ten days later Carnival is still refusing my checks.

Carnival apologized for my situation, but distanced itself from Telecheck, as if Telecheck doesn't work for them. Telecheck has shared bad information about me all over town, and stores that don't even use Telecheck, like Walmart, and still treating my checks differently.

Carnival Foods Ohio Owner Blames Me

I have been vindicated by Carnival, Chase Bank, and Telecheck, but my Checks are still being rejected all over town. I don't know how you would feel if your wife came home for the third time in a month, saying her check was rejected.

This is a result of Carnival Foods Ohio business partner, Telecheck's rash action to my dispute. Telecheck cleared my account, but were unwilling or unable to restore my good name. I always refered to Carnivals double charging me as an honest mistake, but Carnival Foods Ohio used the "fraud" word when describing my action in opening a dispute.

Carnival Foods Ohio said "I paid your bill" when in fact, I paid my original amount owed directly to Telecheck. Carnival was not honest when they said they wanted me to let them know if my checks were still not working.Carnival
seems to be done helping me or owning any part of the problem, because they hung up on me.

I'm attempting to get local TV producers to pick up my story.

My checks are still not working at Carnival Foods Ohio. They said they did all they could for me. Telecheck says my account is cleared, yet Carnival still rejects my checks. Telecheck told Carnival my account would be clear on Nov. 5th. A week later I was not able to cash a check at their store in Heath. Now 2 weeks later I still can't cash a check at Carnival Foods Ohio. The gracious lady manager offered several times to take my check and deposit it separatly, but I was afraid she might get in trouble, and that would only be a bandaide, not really fixing the problem.

Last week I called the collection agency telecheck turned me over to (info provided to Carnival Foods Ohio) They told me there was still an outstanding balance on my account. I asked Carnival Foods Ohio to lookinto it and let me know. Carnival Foods Ohio did not get back with me.

Since Telecheck rejected my check again today at Carnival Foods Ohio in Heath, I tried calling telecheck. Previously, I was totally unable to get thru. This time I found a customer service number that worked thru google 1800-964-9490 I could not understand the first person, so I called back, and the gentelman from telecheck said my account was cleared, and checked the collection agency, and he said that was clear too. He said my problem is with Carnival Foods Ohio.

Carnival Foods Ohio said they did everything they could, and the problem was with telecheck. Carnival Foods Ohio also said that because of privacy issues, Telecheck could not tell them everything, so I offered to come in and Carnival and I could both communicate to telecheck at once. I want my checking account back! Carnival said "I paid your debt for you" and hung up on me. I paid my legitimate Carnival Foods Ohio bill to telecheck. All Carnival paid was their extra double charge portion, and a $30 telecheck fee; which I offered to pay from the beginning if this had been my fault.
