Sorry haha, I did understand that you were trying to tell the authorities that privette still had a site even though they were DUH... good job about telling them, after reading your post I even called the sheriffs office last night to file a report and let them know some IP numbers of other websites that are up and running.

I'm scanning website registries everyday to make sure I'm aware of any website that privette is doing business from.
Unfortunately even when authorities put "web savvy" people on cases, they still have no clue what to look for.

Cindy , I'm disappointed that the mail fraud complaint was not followed up on. This man is clearly breaking not only state, but federal laws and should be stopped.

Jerry mentioned filing a class action suit..Cindy is right, we'd need the list of names.

Go to www.google.com and type in carolinafurniturefraud - if you click on the link the site has been taken down, however if you click on the cached page, you can still view it, summary is, another victim, same story and he made a website and persued his money from HR using the website as leverage.
I've been in touch with this gentlemen and he offered to even give us the website although that's unneccessary because we've got plenty of places to put a website and advertise it with all the major search engines.

There is nothing illegal about providing consumer information to the public, NOTHING and HR was mad mad mad mad when we proposed putting a site up.
He called my husband and threatened him and hung up on him, hahahha, clearly henry doesn't understand fear versus anger , because quite frankly, we are absolutely outraged.
I call there many times a day to let him know that we want our money back, I email to let him know we want our money back, I fax .... its repetitive but it makes me feel better and reminds him I'm dedicated to the cause.

Does anyone want to get together to brainstorm options , I'm in if you do.
On that note I think I'll call now and read the longest consumer rights law I can find into the phone, always makes me feel better to use their voicemail up.

April, thanks for the update on Mr. Privette. My comments regarding the seizing of Mr. Privett's computers was actually a "slam" at the local sheriff's deparment in Brunswick County. It is their feeling and belief that since they confiscated all of the computers and phones from Carolina Furniture, Mr. Privette is effectively out of business. I indicated to them that this is now how it works and they indicated to me that they could not understand how he could still be in business if they took his stuff. At that point in the conversation I determined that these people are not the sharpest tools in the shed. It is unfortunate that the AG's office has to depend on either the local authorities or federal authorities to press charges and move forward with arrest procedures.

I contacted Senator Basnight's office (he is a NC Senator) and his office contacted the AG's office and asked that pressure be put on this case. Possibly more customers need to contact his office.

I was also dissapointed with the fact that I have received no response from the Postmaster General's office. I filed a complaint with them in November. Mail fraud is viable in this case as Mr. Privette uses the mail service to send out contracts and receive payment.

I'm not sure if a class action suit against Mr. Privette/ Carolina Furniture is the way to go. I believe that the only way this could be handled would be for the AG's office to release a listing of the names all of the 200+ victims to someone who is willing to spearhead the class action suit.

I'm posting this to show how it is that HR continues to have websites, I think Cindy in Maryland (hi neighbor) posted that the authorities confiscated his computers ..but this is the way it works, he uses a webhosting service, he doesn't need a computer at all, just a phone number, his email gets forwarded whereever he connects to.



If you notice www.millerburnsfurniture.com doesn't have a phone number on it yet, but as soon as it does, you bet I am calling.

The site is hosted by Rapidsite.com and I told them one of their customers is committing fraudulent practices, (I guess they don't care?)

www.carolinafurniture.com was registered the same way.

HR and his crew are not answering the phone, his other website is www.millerburnsfurniture.com and I've been watching it, there have been updates to it and it is now showing up in search engines if you type in carolinafurniture, I think they are probably going to ditch carolinafurniture.com and hope we all go away and get some fresh new victims in there. And he is taking credit cards on that site now? SCARY!!!



This site says not to post email addresses - I think because of the personal privacy issue but here is an addy carolina_rip_off at hotmail dot com.



Perhaps with all of us thinking together, something can be done.



Go to every forum and website you can and tell your story, just cut and paste it over and over, everywhere you can so others do not become victims.



HR Privette needs to give all of us our money back, it is rightfully ours. He's not even authorized to sell most brands of furniture, just call the company and ask if they've heard of him, they haven't!





Also, if anyone has actually had Hooker Furniture delivered to them by Carolina Furniture, Hooker is VERY interested in speaking with you about the serial numbers (the furniture is yours of course, they're just trying to find out who would supply HR with furniture that he is not supposed to have access to).



We are sending a packet out to an attorney in NC on Monday.

While I am very sorry that you are embroiled in a battle to get a refund or your merchandise, I am very glad that you took the time to post your story on this site.



I will be buying furniture soon, and there is a Carolina outfit nearby. I like their ads and what they have to offer, and I was considering them. Not any more!

We found out today that HR doesn't even have the authorization as a dealer to sell HOOKER furniture, which we ordered months ago.







After my husband sent a fax demanding our money back HR called him and gave his regular speech about how times are hard and he hung up on my husband after he insisted on a refund and not his whining!







I'm FURIOUS and I intend to make it my life's mission to get every single dime he owes us back in our pockets.
