Carolina Furniture, Carolina Furniture Express, Miller Burns Furniture, HR Privette Smooth Talking (Henry Rayford Privette) Still Raking In Deposits with Furniture Scam Rip-off Calabash North Carolina

I purchased a Broyhill bedroom set from a salesperson named Ruth with Carolina Furniture. It was a very convincing company -friendly service, they seemed to have all the right answers, and unbeatable prices. I signed a contract September 2002 and sent a cashier check for over $1600 for my deposit.

Delivery Nightmare: My delivery was scheduled for Jan. 18 & 19, 2002, Mr. Privette even sent a delivery status confirmation fax - the weekend came and went without as much as a call or my furniture.

On Jan. 21st, I called and demanded a refund since I figure there is no furntiure to be delivered. He always has smooth excuses on why he can't deliver (i.e. truck problems, weather, etc.)

Refund Nightmare: Mr. Privette has personally promised a check Jan. 23, 2002 - with no such luck. He has even gone as far as verbally giving me a check number and a Fed Ex Number - neither have panned out. His excuse for no check (i.e. just changed banks, someone is using his ss# so he has to get that straightened out, his acct. is frozen, his secretary forgot to mail it, etc.)

It's amazing how Ruth originally had all of the answers when you're placing your order, but now is only a "secretary", and can't answer anything.
