We moved into our house in Flower Mound Texas on April 25th 2008. The previous owner had the Master bath shower and tub completely tiled by Carpet Mills of America out of The Colony (owner is Bader) in March of 2008 before the house went on the market. By May 23rd 2008 the shower tile that the glass wall sits on had already cracked through the mortar all the way around with a 1/8th inch separation and shifted the glass wall into the shower door. The tub as well has a crack all the way around the seam on the top of the tub. The shower had only been used for less than 2 months and the tub has yet to be used. I contacted my realtor who in turn gave us the phone number to Bader and stated to contact him for the workmanship warranty being that the shower was just tiled by him and she never used it.

The following is a timeline of events:

May 28th - Called the owner Bader, out of The Colony Carpet Mills of America (972-625-0766). Bader stated he would pull the work order from the address and call me back to discuss further.

May 30th - Had to call Bader back because he never returned my call with the information on how to proceed. He at that time referred me to Ali. Bader stated to me that Ali was the gentleman in charge of the tile work. I contacted Ali that afternoon and left a message for him.

June 2nd - Called Ali again and left a message.

June 4th - I called Ali a 3rd time and finally was able to talk to him. He started off the conversation stating to me that he was not going to do the job. He had stated to me that he had been out to my address 3 times now for cracks on the same job and that there had to be a problem with house. I stated to him that I just paid to have a home inspection a month ago and no signs of foundation shift had been noted, and that this was a workmanship issue. I stated to him to come out and look at it, he declined. After a 10 minute discussion over this I asked him to discuss each time he had been at the house. Ali stated that the first time was for the original installation. Ali then stated that the second time someone had to come out because the company that installed the shower glass cut it wrong and he had to pay someone to redo some tile to make it fit. I stated to Ali that the second time was not a tile workmanship issue and he stated that he was trying to nice to the customer. I then asked for the 3rd time he came out and he stated that there was not a 3rd time that if a guy did come out it would be the 3rd time. I asked Ali if there is a warranty on the tile work done by Carpet Mills of America and he stated of course there is. After about 15 minutes of talking he finally said he will send someone out again to take a look at the cracking issue. He stated that a guy would call me to look at the shower June 5th or 6th.

June 5th - no call from Ali or his contractor.

June 6th - Ali's contractor finally calls me at 4pm and said he would be over in the morning of Saturday June 7th.

June 7th 11th no call no show from Ali's contractor

June 11th - called Ali and he said he was sorry that his contractor had a baby and will call me back to set up another date and time.

June 12th - Ali's contractor calls and sets up a date for Saturday June 14th at 10am.

June 14th - 10am..No call no show from tile contractor. I called the tile contractor on his cell phone at 10:20 and no answer. I left a message and told him to be at my house Monday June 16th afternoon after 3pm and that he needed to be here or call.

June 16th - tile contractor calls and said he will stop by June 17th at 3pm.

June 17th - Tile contractor arrives at 3:45pm. Ali's tile contractor looks over the shower tile and said Ali just wanted to have him seal the cracks and call it good. After I showed him the shower door not closing correctly he looked at everything closely and stated that the glass wall needed to come off and the top roll of tile needed to be removed at the very least. He made a phone call (I believe to be with Ali) for a few minutes and stated what he found after looking closely and was told not to do anything that Ali would be coming out to look at the tile himself and would call me. After talking with the tile contractor I found out that he was the gentleman that came out to fix the tile when the glass door didn't fit. He stated that it was not that the glass was not cut right but the gentleman that originally installed the shower tile did a poor job. The wall that the glass was hung on bowed in the middle and the tile rubbed on the glass when the door opened. He stated that he had remove a section of tile and fix the wall due to putting tile roght on sheetrock and then reinstall tile so the door would not rub the tile. He also stated that he refused to anything until Ali approved it because when he fixed the glass door tile issue he never received full payment for his time from Carpet Mills of America and did not want to get stuck with a bill again. The tile contractor apologized for the situation I was in and said Ali would call me and left.

June 24th - Ali has yet to call and discuss the tile issue in the shower from when the tile contractor was here last week.

Aug 8th Ali still has not called to discuss the workmanship issue with the tile.

I have had to silicon the cracks in my shower because the water had went under my shower pan and started flooding my master closet, causing damage to my wall and carpet. Carpet mills kept giving excuses to the BBB all the way up till Nov 08. BBB said they want me to pay them to migate the issue. For the same price I will file a small claims at my local court for better results...Dont not use Carpet mills of America, they do not stand behind their subcontractors and warranty their work, they just take the money and run...

Homeowner was uncooperative with our attemps to fix the problem

AUTHOR: Lonnie Bright (Public Relations Man - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 04, 2009

We sent one of our professional installers out to the residence to determine what the issue was. After inspecting the shower area our installer advised the homeowner that to fix the problem and repair it properly, we would have to remove the glass shower door enclosure. The homeowner was uncooperative and refused to allow our installer to remove the glass and fix the problem. The issue could not be corrected without removal of the shower doors. We attempted several times to work with the homeowner to correct the issue, the homeowner was not cooperating with us.

Carpet Mills of America has been in business for 23 years and we pride ourselves on providing quality work and excellent customer service. We stand behind all of our work and always want our customers to walk away completly satisfied.

Best Regards,

Lonnie Bright (Public Relations Manager)
