On July 28, 2014, I made a car rental reservation through Expedia.com. Later I found out that the car rental company that booked my reservation was Carrentals.com. My itinerary #764468539434 and confirmation #13263281. Upon arrival at the Payless Car Rental counter in San Juan, Puerto Rico I presented the agent with my rental agreement where it showed the car rental fees for $149.40 with taxes and fees of $67.00 for a total of $216.40. They completely ignored my rental agreement and wrote their own for a total charge of $247.27. When I question the extra charges the agent told me that it was for local taxes and fees. When I tried to explained to him that taxes and fees were included in my agreement he became defensive and refused to hear what I had to say, in other word either take it or leave it.

On Aug. 23, 2014, I again made a reservation # 13391777 through Carrentals.com. Since Payless Car Rental again had the lowest rate, I decided to try them again. The two weeks rental agreement was for  $137.40 with $66.48 taxes and fees for a total $203.88. Once again at the counter they added an additional $60.00 which they said was for taxes and fees ignoring the $68.48 of taxes and fees already included in my Carrentals.com rental agreement.

This time I decided to walk out and made another reservation through Hotwire.com for a two weeks rental at a $10.17 a day plus $60.16 in taxes and fees for a total of $203.60. The car rental company was Thrifty Car Rental who was approximately two blocks away. Not to my surprise upon arrival at the counter they added an additional $20.00 in extra taxes and fees.

On Sept. 12, 2014, I made another reserviation #LSV001D08 with Carrentals.com. Me rental agreement was for 2 weeks at $58.00 plus $79.49 in taxes and fees for a total of $137.49. Usave Car Rental added their own version of taxes and fees $47.00. This Carrentals.com does not publish their phone number for customers to call. I decided to email them and not to  my surprise they are useless when it comes to customer service. All I got from them is the run-around.

After walking out of Usave Car Rental, I contacted Hotwire, com and made a reservation # 4197619037 for two weeks for a total of $142.06 including taxes and fees. The car rental company was Sixt Car Rental. To my surprise Hotwire.com has an 800 number that you can call and speak to a live person. I spoke with customer service representative name Eduardo. This guy was a true professional. Not only did he take the time to listen to my complaint but he also contacted the Sixt Car Rental to assured me that Sixt Car Rental would be honoring my Hotwire.com rental agreement as it was without the extra overcharge in taxes and fees that these other car rental companies charges.

I want  to truly thank customer service representative Eduardo of Hotwire.com for his outstandig service. I'll be traveling to Puerto Rico more frequently from now on and Hotwire.com will be my first choice for all my travel needs.
