Carroll Fulmer Logistics Corporation Company claims to treat you like" Family" Groveland Florida

I worked at carroll fulmer and i can tell you that there is nothing family about this company. their operations manager expects you to "recreate" your logs to haul is freight and when you refuse to do it they black list you. i researched this company and filed complaints with the fmcsa and other groups there are in fact several open complaints pending from several drivers according to the people i spoke with. as far as pay goes i was told 36cpm for all miles, and food and lodging is provided during orentation. when i got there they oh by the way,d me and told me they only take care of lunch. and that .36 cpm turned out to be 25 cpm plus a FORCED per-diem pay that scres up your taxes and social security. but of course it benefits them to do it so they do every thing they can to convince you that it is for you.  i was also told that they had 66 mph trucks by the recruiter. turned out to be 63mph and when i confronted them they got mad and threatened to fire me and told me to take it or leave it saying the speed odometer says 65 do its 65 even tho the speed limiter was callorbrated for different tires and they refused to hook the truck to a computer to show what the actual speed setting was. several receipt i turned in were never payed back to me as well. unless you are desperate i reccomend staying away from this company because they treat all their new drivers like crap. their turn over rate had doubled in the last year. according to their operations manager direct quote "drivers are a dime a dozen".

The interesting part in all that you offer, is that from what I read, you expect to be put at the front of the line as a new employee. You want the best runs, without considering that they have other employees that want the same thing you want, and who may have been there for a lot longer than you were.

If there is one thing that is consistent about trucking, is that it is never consistent. Nothing can be guaranteed.

I read that when you decided to quit the first time, you refused a load that would keep you moving, because it didn't get you straight home to quit. You sat there for a day and a half, and consider it THEIR fault? Do you think loads fall off of trees? I'm amazed that they hired you back after that stunt.

You didn't have enough information about the other job to even know before you quit Carroll Fulmer to know what kind of equipment you would be operating, and wound up asking for your job back. Amazing. Simply amazing. And they hired you back in spite of it. I would never take ANY job without knowing all of the little details up front. I sure wouldn't quit one that I have without knowing them.

And again you came back, demanded these premium loads, knowing that you were a new hire, and now a rehire, and you expect them to put you up front ahead of all other drivers, because that's what you wanted to make you happy. Where do you get off?

As to your fuel issue, it is your job to purchase fuel according to policy, and the provided card is to be used to pay for it. I owned my own company, and my drivers were told clearly up-front, don't even try to buy fuel but where I tell you to, and with the fuel card you are issued, because I'm not going to pay anyone back who side-steps my fuel policy. There are no excuses. Better to be fifteen minutes late with fuel in the tank, than to be out of fuel, or out of what it cost you because you failed to fuel the truck with the card when you could have.

Short miles have always been the standard of pay (yeah it sucks and it's slowly changing), and if the company has a policy on tolls or which roads they authorize you to run, and you decided to do otherwise, who's fault is that? If the run was tight, the delivery time should have been rescheduled.

Personally, I wouldn't give any company the wanted escrow the time of day, but that's a separate issue. You agreed to it when you took the job. The fact that they took it out of your check really doesn't impact the signing bonus issue. You quit, came back, and they hired you a second time after refusing to haul a load. I think you were treated rather well, under the circumstances. Your claim to a bonus ended when you quit the first time, which is why companies place restrictions as to how and when you are entitled to a signing bonus. You didn't stay the course to qualify for the bonus.

Then came the issue of your father's death, and I do want to offer my condolences by the way. You have to understand that a truck is not a personal vehicle, and it's expensive to operate. I would have jumped on the chance to go now and pay for the fuel, if that's all they were asking of me. It's more than reasonable. Then you were off for five days. And there is something WRONG with this? I think they treated you rather well, considering some of the horror stories I've heard of some companies and how they treat people who have family deaths.

Your thanks after all of that was to quit because they wanted to offer you a 600 mile load when you were ready to go again? Hey, no offense...but if a man approached all of this in the manner you did, I'd have let you quit too, and been glad you did. Your appreciation for their accommodations leaves a little to be desired.

I mean, you expected far too much in return for the way you treated them. You're demanding, attempting to force them to treat you like a king, without you taking any time to consider that you were new. They have plenty of people to keep content and happy with long trips and great miles. What makes you entitled to be at the head of that line over any others who work there?

Now to be fair in all of this, it really sounds as if this company was not up to your standards, and I understand this, because they probably wouldn't meet mine either. I'm picky as heck who I work for. My current job has lasted over three years now after returning to the workforce as a driver, and it's because I did a background check on the company I work for, just as they did on me before they hired me. I'm treated like a king, but then they treat everyone that way, and I knew it before I applied to them for a job.

Talking to a recruiter and being satisfied with answers to a few questions is not going to cut it. You have to dig into those little details to find out if the company is a good fit.

I still find your assessment of Carroll Fulmer Logistics to be a bit off-base, and I feel the content of it is full of sour grapes.

I feel you should have been a little more tolerant and a lot less demanding, regardless of your previous record.

Well i guess the story grew once Mr. B--- saw a perfectly unbiased person put what he thought on the subject. All I know is, I have no idea who Anthony from Rossville is, but whoever the guy is read both sides and with a unbiased opionion sided with the company.

Of course i could be like Mr. B--- and write more explainations defeding the company and have this thing go on and on forever back and forth. But I think if any logical biased person reads both sides that were first expressed you have to overwhelmingly side with the with THE COMPANY****

Of course the complainer in the story was not happy with the fact the verdict and showing the true colors came back and wanted to complain some more. Showing again that the company did everything within policy and treated the driver just as it should and actually help him when it did not need to and this is what they get for in return.which leads me to say, you cannot believe everything you read.

VERDICT ON THIS ONE IS DEFENITELY WITH THE COMPANY!!

First Yes my first trip out I was called by a company I applied to 3 months prior that paid 2 times as much and my plans were to find a company where I could make enough money so my wife could retire from her Job as human resources director that paid her very well, and go on the road with me and we could spend our next ever how many years traveling and working in the trucking industry until I decided to retire myself, as many husband and wifes do.

After I got the call I made the decision to give my notice while on this trip so they could have a driver ready to go in my truck when I got back. I was told thank you for the notice and if things didnt work out to come on back, which is what I expected because I have an excellent driving record and work history. This was on a Tuesday and I was in San Francisco I had already been sent a pre plan to pickup a load in LA and go straight back to florida which is where I live 30 minutes after I give my notice the LA load disappeared and they wanted me to take a load to Ohio get there saturday and sit until friday to unload.

When I told them I was not going to do that they left me sitting in SanFrancisco for a day and a half before giving me a load back to florida. I guess I should have seen the red flag then. This is why I quit so soon it was because with plans for my wife to retire early I would have to make as much money as I could the reason I never took the first trip with the second company was after I saw the equipement I was to be using which was junk in my opinon I turned the job down.

So I went back to Carroll Fulmer I asked for long trips to west coast and was asked if I would agree to run north east once in a blue moon I said yes as long as I get long trips. Well between april and october I got 2 long trips the rest were local in florida or go 5 or 6 hundred miles drop go 100 miles reload and return to florida or or go to Texas unload and told we will get you a long load to west coast from there which almost always ended up with a load from Texas back to florida spending as much as 3 weeks on the road trying to get a long trip. I would deliver to a place in Texas and they would have loads of ours going to Washington state and Phoenix and they would still load me back to Florida, SO MUCH FOR THEIR PROMISE OF LONG TRIPS!!!

As for the fuel money Carroll Fulmer OWES ME Yes we have a fuel card but you only have three fueling companies you can use I took another one of their no paying loads that they told me would be ready in Orlando at 10 pm and deliver to Ft. Lauderdale at 8 am the next morning so my plan was to get the load on go to Ft. Pierce fuel at one of the company approved stops and continue to my drop and go to bed. Well the load did not get loaded until 4am which (I later found out they knew this would be the case) giving me only 4 hours to make my drop on time. I had enough fuel to make it so to make my drop on time I didnt stop at the truck stop. I got down on I 95 and there was a wreck that put me in stop and go traffic for a hour and a half this caused my fuel to get so low and one of the first few trips in this truck not knowing the fuel gauge where it run out at on empty or close to empty no other company fuel stops around rather than run out of fuel I stopped at a convince store they did not accept the company fuel card so I bought 100 dollars worth of fuel with my personal check card thinking no problem CF will reimburse me (BOY WAS I WRONG) I turned in the original receipt and did not make a copy of It I never dreamed they would claim they lost it but in hind sight this was soon after I started work there and did not know how they worked.

So I went online to my bank acct. printed a copy of the transaction turned it in still no pay they told me to go to the bank and get a copy of the transaction and the money would be on my next check so I did well I still have not got the money they have my logs that show I bought fuel there at that time qual com delivery bills what else do they need to pay me I bet they used my receipts for expenses on their taxes. Also I used the turnpike to get to my drop on time with 50 dollars in tolls and I only get 10 dollars back because they say they only allow 10 dollars for tolls but yet they route you out of your way make you run extra miles and pay you for the shortest route possible which most of the time a semi cant go. Now to the sign on bonus after the 90 days was up I turned in a request for my sign on bonus you have to request any money they owe you they will not just automatically pay you, and a couple of weeks went by and no response nothing from them no reply so I went into the office and asked payroll they said they were told not to pay me because I quit and come back but yet they still took out 10 dollars a week for escrow for every week I was gone out of my first check when I came back.

It seems somebody forgot to tell payroll this time also, I didnt work there anymore. I was told I could Talk to Mike Bates he is the one who made the decision so I did. That meeting was a joke he said the same, he said he would (PERSONALLY) talk to Phillip Fullmer and let me know what he said on tuesday, well that has been several months ago and I still havent herd from him, when I told Greg in recruting about it he agreed with me 100 percent leaving and coming back should not make any diffrence as long as I never got any of the bonus before I quit. He seems to be telling a diffrent story now. Maby Greg should be a politican instead of a recruiter.

Next I was in Atlanta when I got the call my father was dying and the family was being called in I called dispatch asked if I could drive the truck there about 300 miles to be with my father when he passed they told me they would get right back with me well after 2 hours I called them back they said they were trying to find me a load near there I said if I have to pickup a load he would probably pass before I could get there so then they asked me if I would pay for the fuel (can you believe it and this company claims to treat you like family) I said no they said go ahead. This same company has run me over 900 miles empty before to pickup a load and they want me to pay for fuel for 300 miles to be with my father his last few hours here. Is the the kind of family you want to be part of??? I was gone 5 days when I come back there was no sorry about your father just just another short 600 mile no paying load and a take it or come clean out your truck. At this point I was so sick of fighting with this so called (TREAT YOU LIKE FAMILY COMPANY)

I threw in the towel, cleaned out my truck It was not until after the 45 day period I asked for my escrow money and when I got it they took out insurance for the two months I was gone eating up what money I had in escrow I decided to file this report and file a report with the labor board. After talking with many other drivers at CF it seems these type of problems are common there. If you are considering going to work there I strongly recomend you look elsewhere!!! Tony

Carroll Fulmer Logistics may be a great place to work, or they may not be. But that's neither here nor there.

As to this particular dispute, I side with Carrol Fulmer Logistics 100%. The man quit the first time, immediately after his first trip, and after first being hired at a great expense to qualify him for hire. Then he returns after quitting ANOTHER job. He offers that the company was gracious enough to afford him time off for a funeral. No time line is given as to how long he stayed the second time, but it appears to be brief. He really isn't entitled to any hiring bonus.

I additionally find it strange and unreasonable that a man would purchase fuel for a company truck out of his own pocket, without a good explanation, given that there are fuel cards issued to drivers for such purpose.

While I personally would never work for any company that would require me to put up escrow, especially in the case of an employee/employer relationship, there are Federal rules in place regarding such accounts. It is standard, required, and customary for escrow accounts to be settled at the end of 45 days after termination of an association with any trucking company.

This gentleman seems to be a wee bit fickle. It appears that he quit two jobs within a very short span of time, and to expect a hiring bonus after quitting Carroll Fulmer Logistics twice is a bit silly, at least in my opinion.

Ok, I am an employee at Carroll Fulmer Logistics. First I want to start off by saying the Fulmer family is the greatest groupe of people you will ever meet or work for. You won't find a more fair and understanding company that will work with you to solve your problems if you have any(most people do not have any because of how generous they are). They treat there employees like no other and you should consider your self lucky to even be associated with them! Now on to the matter at hand. I would like to give some facts here that might have been distorted or left out.

First I admit the company made a mistake in the process of the paper work when the driver left and they did not cancel his insurance and stuff, etc. Therefore eating up his escrow. But when it was brought to their attention when the final paycheck was issued, they corrected it immeadiatley and made the situation right(because they are great and fair people) by issuing the Boyd family the money that was owed to them. If the company makes a mistake they fix it, just like they did immeadiatley. Like I said a great company to work for!

Now that is correct they did not give the driver the sign on bonus because he left on his own choosing. We did not want him to leave, he thought he had a better job. If he was to stay he would have got his bonus just like we said(we are men of our word at Carroll Fulmer). But he still chose to leave, after making the company waste all of our time and money on him going through the hiring process and leaving after beeing here a week! But yet the compasionate people we are, we still did not hold it against him, and offerred to take him back after the job he thought would be better did not work out(a lot of companies would have been mad that he wasted their time and money and would not of hired him back, with the fear he could do it again!!) So be being compasionate and kind we hired him back.

Now he is considered by definition rehire in every attribute that goes with it(rehires do not get sign on bonuses, only offerred to first time hires). He should feel fortunate he got a second chance to work at such a great company. And that is why he did not get the sign on bonus(like i said he left us and sign on bonus by his own choosing for another job). Now the fuel receipt, for one there should be absolutely no reason he should have paid for fuel him self in the first place, every driver is issued a fuel card so there should be no excuse why he paid for it out of his own pocket, but yet since we are understanding we still offerred to pay him the money he spent on fuel, all he had to do was turn in the receipt with info we asked so we could track it and it would have been a done deal. But he could not do that either for some reason so we were not able to reimburse him for the fuel receipt either, even though we were more then willing too!

This report basically comes down to sour grapes and as you can see we are not on this website anywhere else. Carroll Fulmer is the best company in the world to work for and i dare you find one that is better. And you know what, they do treat you like Family!!!

Here I am on the very site I searched before taking a position at Carroll Fulmer trucking company in Groveland,FL . When I searched for the company to see how many complaints had been filed,I couldn't find any. They send letters telling you, you are Family and they are your brothers and they will do what it takes to help you succeed. I thought WOW I have found a great company.I had been waiting on a job in Tampa to come through for months but thought it had fell through so I applied and was hired on with hopes this was as good as they potaryed themselves in orientation.

Promised long trips and a sign on bonus of $700.00. Went out on my first trip and the Tampa Job calls me. They had a impressive presentation on internet and I had talked to the owner several times before the position came open. I told him I was on my first trip for another company and I would like to give them notice before I left so it give them time to hire someone. He agreed to hold the job.Said it showed integrity on my part, most men would have walked away with no notice.

When I returned to Carroll Fulmer I explained the situation,they said I could go ahead but if the job wasn't what I thought it should be they would hire me back. Well it wasn't and I returned to Carroll Fulmer. The long trips promised were few and far between. I called several times about the sign on bonus and was told they'd call me back over and over again. They lost a fuel reciept for $100 I paid for out of my pocket. I was told to bring in a bank reciept, they told me that they needed one with more info.

I went back to the bank and the manager printed out a more detailed one. Turned it in and never heard anything.I cleared $76.00 on that trip and paid $100 to deliver it for them!! After returning from my Fathers funeral they pushed another short trip at me. I told the dispatcher I couldn't afford another short trip and I was told to come clean my truck out. They I had to wait 45 days to get my money back out of an esgrow account and I had to call for it. MY money .I had to call to get it. They sent $8.48 out of $300.00 because sombody forgot to tell the payroll Dept I wasn't working there anymore and they pulled out med ins and rider ins for time I wasn't even employed by them .

We have managed to get the esgrow money but they say now I have to have original reciept from gas station with truck number on it. Even though the Bank reciept told the station/time/date/amount and I turned in the trip sheet to match it. Not good enough to get my money back.

And The sign on bonus. They advertize on the internet. Now they say I didn't get it because I left and came back. I guess the" Family" member forgot to tell me that when he told me to go check out for the Tampa Job. The Carroll Fulmer Family still owes my family $800.00 and they informed us today they don't intend to pay. I can't afford to have Family like this!
