I rented a trencher. When they dropped it off, they forgot the bucket, drove it up the driveway (all new paved drive), onto the lawn.  Just started to use it and noticed that the track had a cut  all around near the edge.  Immediately took pics with a phone and contacted Casale.  We had also noticed that, after working about 15-20 minutes that this unit was just too slow and perhaps an excavator would be better.

I mentioned about the possibility of an excavator, even though they had to come back for the bucket, they would charge me the full day for the trencher, and would charge me for the excavator, and the transportation without any break.
The unit was in extreme distress, as the guard fell off when the cast iron bracket broke when the units cutter was parked in the air nearly killing two of the guys working near it.  On closer inspection (more pics) shows the bracket was cracked all the way through and rusted in the crack- was like this a very long time.

The pics of the track shows it was like this when delivered, and I have the heating inspector and worker that were also here that testifies the condition of the track had the cut prior to our using the equipment.
An hour later, they delivered the bucket, showed the person from Casale Rent all the cut in the track to let them know that was the condition when delivered, they made no beef about the track, just drove off.
When they came to pick up the unit, they made me sign the sheet that they are picking up the unit, I didn't want to sign anything, but they were going to leave the equipment there, charge me additional delivery services and additional days as a threat-I would have had no recorse but to pay the additional,  I had no choice but to sign the sheet.
The bucket was supposed to be included, they eventually charged me for damage insurance on the equipment and for the bucket an additional $60, they kept the security deposit of over $200, and now billing me for an overhall on the unit for over a thousand dollars.

I've tried several times to resolve this, all they do is keep sending me bills and now adding on service charges!-- These people have no business being in business.  This had caused me horrible anxiousness, but I don't owe them- anyone have any ideas, I'd appreciate your feedback.

AUTHOR: Casale Rent-All, LLC - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, March 26, 2012

Mr. Deet, We wish you would be an honorable man. You rented a walk behind track machine with a trencher attachment to go through dirt. We delivered you the machine at 2:30pm and at 4:09pm you called and stated that the machine was not working. When we inquired to find out what was wrong with the machine you stated it was not going through the 8-12" diameter rocks on your property. At that time we told you the machine was not intended to go through the rock and continued use would damage the machine. We then recommended an excavator but stated we would call you back with what machines we had available. At 4:38pm we called you back to give you the options. You stated that you were not going to pay for another machine to be delivered. You stated it was outrageous to be charged for a different machine when the one you rented was not working. You were then reminded that the machine you rented works going through the dirt but just not 8 " diameter rock. You stated you were going to continue to use the machine because it is not your machine and you did not care if you broke it. You were then told we were making note of that statement and were advised not to use the machine for the purpose you were using it for and that you are fully responsible for all damages. The owner of the store then delivered you a bucket (there was no charge for it- check your contract). He placed the trencher back on the machine for you (no charge for that) after you had knocked it off by hitting rocks. He again instructed you to not use the trencher through rocks or it will cause damage to the machine. The owner noticed the track having a cut in it that was not there previously. When he questioned you about it you said you were using the trencher straight down and it must have gotten caught on the track. A trencher must be used at no more than a 45 degree angle as it was explained to you upon delivery. 42 hours after after the machine was dropped off the machine was picked up by the owner. He observed the extent of the damages you caused at that time: the trencher guard was broken off,  the right track was sliced right through to the other side, and the trencher pump seal was leaking. Every machine is prepped prior to the rentals and all damages are noted. At the end of the rental the machine is inspected by that same person and prepared for rental again. The damage you caused to the machine was clear. In the end, you were charged for the rental of the walk behind unit plus the trencher, the hours over the allotted time and our cost on replacing the track you destroyed. We did not charge you for the service call of repairing the trenching chain nor the bucket which was not on your original contract.
