Cash Advance USA Financial fraud, cash fraud, scare tactics, police, FDIC, federal case, fear, fraud, payday loan, telephone Internet
I received a telephone call this morning from a man by the name of Mark Taylor claiming to be an agent of the FDIC. He stated that a Federal claim for financial fraud was being filed against me and that I should call my local police department who had a subpoena for my arrest. He gave me no ther information other than the name Mike Anderson from the " NJ Police Department in Dayton, NJ" and the telephone number 908-730-3814. I live in Dayton. The telephone number he gave me had the same area code as my cellphone but is not the area code of the Dayton police.
The use of the term " financial fraud " caused me immediate concern. Financial fraud is a criminal offense that can and has resulted in convictions and prison sentences. My career was spent as a CPA in an international accounting firm and as a member of financial management in several major corporations.
I called Mike Anderson who stated that the police where coming to arrest me in 45 minutes because I had not repaid a cash advance owed to an on-line company named Cash Advance USA. He gave me a case number (2851991AC). I asked him for the social security number. The number he gave me was not my social security number. I then asked him what bank and account number where the money had been deposited. He gave me the name " South Florida Federal Credit Union " with the account ending in the four digit number 0651, which is the month and year of my birthday. I told him I had never had an account as this credit union. He then restated that the Dayton police would be at my home in 45 minutes to arrest me and hung up.
My husband immediately contacted our police department who then asked to speak to me. They opened a case with a detective.
Non payment of debt is not financial fraud and does not normally result in arrest. Fraud is very different than not paying a debt. Fraud is a criminal offence involving intentional deceit for personal financial gain or to harm another. Not paying off a debt is not typically fraud and is not a criminal offense.
This is the second time I have had making the claim I did not repay a debt to this same company. This second call, however, made a much more serious claim of a criminal offense and arrest. I am more than willing to assist with detectives to stop these very intimidating and serious false claims and scare tactics. They are committing the very crime that they are accusing others of having committed.
