We bought a boat in 2007 from Cope and Mcphetres and was told that if we bought the boat that we qualified for a 20k cash reward and was given all the paper work for the reward.

We followed the instructions to a tee.   We did everything exactly as the document stated, we even found the small print stuff.

We sent in for the cash reward during the redemption period and the letter was returned to us.  The letter had not been opened and just said refused on the front.

This should not be allowed to go on by dealers and should have to pay as it is a form of a contract with them.  The problem i have been faced with is Cope has gone out of business so there is no one to talk to and cash rewards seems to be non existant.

WTF am i supposed to do?  I have all the documents that i need to prove they screwed us over.

I'm familiar with the program, as I was a victim on the giving end. I bought into the program as a REALTOR to offer rebate to potential clients, similar to the dealer you purchased your boat from. Your dealer was a victim of this scam too, but they're partially at fault for offering such a crappy program to their customers.

Unfortunately, Cash Rewards used an unsustainable business model that consisted of selling a 3 year rebates in hopes of people simply forgetting about it. That's why they made the claim process such a pain. They charged "partners" like me, and your dealer to join the program for thousands of dollars. We offered the rebate to our customers. They went bankrupt. End of the story.

I highly doubt you'll get anything out of Cash Rewards because they're finished, bankrupt. Unless there's a class action lawsuit, you might as well forget about Cash Rewards. Your only real option, as much as I hate to say it, is to go after the dealer. Maybe they'll pony up and offer some type of reimbursement because they fell into the scam in the first place.

Again, I hate to recommend that because I was a partner too and I can't imagine having multiple clients coming to me asking "where's my $10k rebate".

Bad situation.
