Castle Apartments and their managers who worked at The Heritage at White Pond have terrible customer service. From the first day we moved in in August of 2012 there were problems. We were promised an apartment with hard wood floors, only to get there with one with carpeting. The workers who remodelled the apartments before move in burned holes in the carpet with cigarettes as well as stained them. We documented these damages with pictures and reported them to management. Now that we moved out, they are trying to charge us $1000 for damages to the carpet.
On several occassions, apartment workers would enter the apartment unannounced with no notice. My fiance has PTSD as he is an Iraq/Afghanistan veteran. Being woken up in the morning by an unannounced person intruding into our residence was particularly harmful in his case. Even after several complaints, these intrusions did not stop.
The management never issued us a laundry room key, even after several attempts in person and by phone to recieve one.
Every person we ever spoke to that worked there was rude, unhelpful, and, at times, down right insulting.
They are now trying to charge us for damages to the apartment that were documented and photographed BEFORE we moved in. Although we paid a $30 a month pet deposit, they are claiming damages caused by the pet. What then was this deposit for? Regardless, there were no damages that were not either repaired by us before we left or caused (and documented) before we moved in.
Do not live in any Castle owned apartment. I had previous bad experiences at Pheasant Run, another complex managed by Castle. Although the customer service was better, they too tried to falsely charge us for damages we did not inflict. This claim was successfully rebutted, but they will try to charge you for anything they can after you move out as well as refuse to return your security deposit.
