Complaint Description:
I have several issues to address involving vehicle repairs under the codes listed on the first page. I have known Charles Caudler for about 6 years, I stay right behind his shop and my mother and I have gone to him to repair issues dealing with our automobiles. I have a Pontiac Grand Am 1996 model, and I have also purchased a 1998 GMC Jimmy from him. My Mother has a 1986 Toyota wagon, and a 1991 Lincoln Contennital that we wanted Mr. Caulder to service for us. Problem 1, my mother had an interlock system placed in her van, and she needed an alternator repair done to it. My mother contacted the people in Rockingham, NC that placed the interlock system in her car, she explained to them that her vehicle was down, and she was getting it repaired. The people at the interlock place told her to tell Mr. Caulder to call them so that they could walk him through the process of bypassing the system. Mr.Caulder did not contact the people and bypassed the system without permission. After he pulled all the wires a loose from under my mother's steering wheel, he dragged her van back here in my yard and parked it. My mother has asked Charles several times to replace or fix the wires that he took apart, and he has failed to fix what he destroyed. Her van has been sitting in my yard for 3 years now. At the same time he had her Lincoln their doing repairs to it as well. Charles told my mother that her transmission had gone bad in her car, but from pass experience I have seen the results of a bad motor, and their causes. Charles rebuilt my mother's transmission, she rode for like two weeks paying him $1200.00, and her car has been sitting in my yard for about 3 years too. Problem 2 I had Charles to place the seal around my motor and he charged me $623.00, their were more issues that needed to be taken care of as well, and at the time I needed my car to get me back and forth from work. Charles told me that he would fix these issues when I had days of from work, every time I went back to him he was always busy. I drove my car to work one day, and the motor was idling up once I came to rest at a stop sign. When I got to work, one of my co-workers took a look at it and told me that it was not safe to drive the car in that condition, and to call Charles to tow it since he was the one to do the repairs. Charles came and got it did a couple of minor adjustments and stop the problem, but a couple of days later the car shut down completely, I asked him to fix it, he would not. So I got my car back on the road and purchased a 1998 GMC Jimmy from Mr. Caulder. He assured me that everything was ok. About 3 days later I kept hearing a jingling noise, I took it to Pauls Tires, and he told me that if I had not come in to see about that sound, I could have been dead. He told me that the barrens were gone. I let my mother drive my Pontiac since her other two vehicles are sitting in my yard. My car ran hot one day she took it over to Charles to fix it, Charles told her it was the alternator, so he replaced it, and  charged her $263.00, that same day the car ran for a little while then she took it back, because the car put her down. Charles then told my mother that it was the fuel filter; he replaced that and charged us $277.00. My mother took the car again, it broke down a couple of days before Christmas, Charles then told her it was the seal, he replaced that charging my mother 488.23,my mother asked Charles that if he put the car on the machine to see what the problem was, then why was he taking so many guesses on in finding the problem, and why was he charging her again, she told him that she was not pleased at him trying to take all of her money, because she is fixed on a fix income. She asked Charles if she could pay him $244.00 to get the car, because it was during the holidays, and he told her no that he needed all of the money, and she could not understand why he was charging her double for his misdiagnosing in the beginning. Charles Caulder then took my car and placed it in storage, so that he can collect additional fees, and I don't think that is right.

Your Desired Resolution:
I would like for Charles Caulder to give our money back, because are cars are not fix they are still sitting because of the damage he caused, I would also like for him to release the lien that he has placed on my car. And I would also like for him to replace my radio that someone stole out of my car while it was at his shop. Charles has charged us severely claiming to fix our car problems and has not done so. I have other witnesses that can speak up on our behalf's as well, and other customers that he has done the same to, for the exception of not charging them.
