CCS First National Merchant Credit Card consumer fraud Las Vegas Nevada

I received what appeared to be a pre-approved credit card in the mail today. The card was attached to a letter claiming I had been approved for a $6500 credit limit.

It seemed too good to be true the moment I opened the envelope, so I read every word of the letter, including the full page of 'fine print' on the back.

The fine print revealed that the attached card was not a credit card, but a membership card. Upon calling to activate it, I would receive a credit card to be used only for purchases from their catalogs. I would also be charged a number of fees, including 'optional' services, for a total of almost $500.

Figuring this was probably a scam, I got online to search for a website. I figured if it was for real, I would find a site that would include samples of the items available in the catalogs.

Instead of a CCS website, I found the Rip-off report site and was shocked to find at least 27 reports about this company in the past week alone. I was sad to read that many of the reports were from people who had already lost their money.

However, I'm grateful that they reported their experiences on this site - without their reports, I may have found myself a victim of this scam.

I'll be checking this site every time I receive any offer in the mail that looks too good to be true.
