Answering this ad was one of the dumbest things I've ever done. CDI made it sound so wonderful, as if I have found the job that would solve all my problems. Well after signing up, and financing the $5,000 for the driving school enrollment(the stupid part), I participated in the three week school. I did rather well, I must say. I then picked a driving company to work for. I worked for this company( Marten Trucking) for six months. I never made over $400 throughout my employment. After quitting this job(mainly for the fact I was losing everything I had and drowning in debt), I went to work for a local business which I am still employed(1 1/2 years later). When I finally mustered up some courage, I called CDI. The only answer I received was that it was my fault and they weren't responsible for what I made.

I am a wife of a trucker who trained at teh CDI School in Gulfport. Sometimes it is not the school or the student but yet the trucking company itself. Some companies do not pay what truckers are worth. My husband has been driving 8 years. We have had checks that were 300.00 a week I made him come off the road because he can make that at home. Why be away from your family if you can make that at home? Yet, he loves his job and always goes back. He has worked with a few different companies. some pay good, some don't. Fine the company that will run you like you want to run and YES you HAVE to run to make any money. If they slack off on miles tell them to up them. They make think you are happy running like you do. My husband now runs like crazy during the week, we still have him home most weekends, he has been there almost a year and brings home nearly 700.00 a week after taxes and ins. and all that good stuff.Having a good dispatcher helps too.=)

I do not see anything misleading about the ad. I have been a professional driver for 10 years and Have both trained and taught Professional Drivers at other schools.
No driver should settle for making $400 a week unless thats all they are capable of. I find it hard to believe in this industry where a driver making only .25 per mile and averaging 2500 miles per week being at the lower end of the scale, that this driver couldn't do better than he says.
What other industry could you get into with only 3 weeks of training and have the potential of making at least $35,000 your first year? I dont know enough about the trucking company mentioned or the school to know about their pay or the quality of training he received but i do know that the money is there to be made and it takes initiative on the driver's part to make sure he can get the miles needed before joining a company.
If you can't make more than $400 a week as an over the road driver with a valid CDL, then there is something wrong with you not the school that taught you
