I found a really great deal on a cell phone from letstalk.com. The phone was $99.99 and they would send you a $100 rebate. I ordered the phone with a prepaid credit card. The next time I checked the order status, the website said that my order had been cancelled and that no charge has been made to my credit card.

I checked my prepaid credit card balance online and they had charged my credit card. I e-mailed them once about it and got no reply. I called their customer service line for the next couple days. No reply. 2nd email. No reply.

I'm going to file a dispute with them. Anyone know if there is a chance of me getting my money back?

#1 Consumer Suggestion

You should be able to....

You should be able to get a refund. You've just gotta get a print out of the charge that they actually made and a print out of something that shows they claim that it wasn't charged.

They pulled some of that BS on me.. except that they made an unauthorized charge of over $500.00. I contacted them about it at their 800 number and was transfered to customer service.

So they told me that since there was proof in their system that I never received anything that I had to file a police report about it (because they had reason to believe someone commited fraud with my debit card and picked up the order at a FedEx).

I did file that police report and faxed it to letstalk.com aswell. They even said that as soon as I faxed that out they'd refund me my money.

Well to my surprise... after I sent out that fax and even got a confirmation that they sent back stating that they did receive it.. they claimed that I never faxed anything out to them!

So watch out with these people.. they'll give you the run-around! They really will! I get the impression this company is used to commiting fraud on people.

So what I would suggest is the following. Get a print out online (if possible) of your prepaid credit card stating that this company did charge you, then get a print out online from letstalk.com of what they claim (that the charge was never made/went thru), then go to the police and file a fraud report against them.

Let the police know that they are claiming your credit card wasn't charged and show them the prinout that states that. Then show them your credit card printout proving they did charge it.

After you have your police report... contact letstalk.com. You can do so by going to their website and clicking on "order by phone", which is located on the top right hand corner of the main page.

When you get someone on the phone tell them to transfer you to customer service. When they do so, let customer service know that you've gotten the evidence proving that your card was charged, and the printout of what they claim.

Also let them know that you've made a fraud police report against the company and that you'd like to fax it out to them. Just so they realize you're not playing around with them.. ask them for the number to fax it out to.

I bet you that as soon as you fax it and check up on it.. they'll claim that you never sent it out. But atleast then.. they'll know you're taking action on the matter and that they must refund you your money.

And hopefully then you'll get a refund. Also.. don't stop working with your credit card company.. keep calling them and keep them updated on any kind of progress.
