CTS or Central Transportation Services out of wichita kansas truelly needs to work on thier hiring and recruiting practices.
I had filled out a thing on truckerserch.com because i wanted to go back on the road. I have been off the road for a year and a half. The following morning after filling out the application on truckersearch.com i get a phone call from Megan with CTS. We discussed the usual preemployment stuff all companies want to know about so on and so forth.
I filled out the application and sent it in. I was then told by Megan that it shouldnt be a problem with me coming to work for this company and we discussed the fact that i was not going to leave to my current employer without giving them a notice. She stated that she understood that and could respect that. So i turned in my notice to my current employer and gave my current employer a 3 week notice. Over the next three weeks i spoke with a woman named Carla makeing sure that cts had all the paperwork and information they needed.
At one point i was even told by Carla that she was going to let Megan know it was ok to bring me on and everything looked good. They had all the background reports and everything they needed to bring me on. We had even discussed when my last day of employment would be with my current employer and when i would be available to start with CTS. Everything was already set in motion. I had already talked with my current employer and had even spoken with my landlord and made arrangements to move out of my apartment.
Then Carla informes me that they had not run a CSA2010 report that i had not been sent the proper form to fill out so that they could run this CSA2010 thing. So i have her fax it to me at work at my current employer. On my last day with my current job i recieved a phone call from Carla at 8:30 am and she informes me that they can not hire me because of that report. After being told for three weeks that everything looked good and i had a job.
Now i cant say anything bad about the company or driving for them because i never had that opportunity. So i truelly dont know how the company is if you are an employee. But they should really take a good long look at thier hiring and recruiting practices.
Here i am told at the last minute that i can not come to work for them because, and i quote, "after looking at your CSA2010 report there is just to much on here and we cant hire you". So im stuck haveing to be out of my apartment because my landlord already rented it out to someone else. Stuck without a job because my current employer already hired someone to replace me.
And for 3 weeks i had been lead to believe i had a job with this company. This is what really gets me. How can you tell someone "yes we can hire you", and discuss the fact they are turning in a resignation to thier current employer and let them believe that everything is taken care and even discuss the date they will be available to come to work for you, and then at the very last minute inform them you can not hire them? If i had done something like to someone i would not be able to sleep at night. Kinda makes me wonder how many others are going to go through something like this.
Being 36 years old and haveing worked in the trucking industry as long as i have i should have known not to make any arrangements or do anything until I had been assighned a truck.
A little advice............ never believe anything you are told over the phone make them put it in writing.
