These people were calling my cell phone three times a day for a week before I finally got sick of it and answered the phone. They offered me a Mastercard with a $2500 credit limit, no annnual fees, no finance charges, and no interest for 4 years. I don't have the greatest credit, and this was the best credit card offer I have ever recieved, so I signed up.

While Dana, operator #82096, was taking my information, she kept going on about the free 3 day, 2 night vacation I would get and all kinds of savings on hotels and theme parks, but all I wanted was the credit card. She scheduled the $369 "processing fee" for two weeks later to give me time to get the money together.

The next day I tried to call to change my phone number in their computer... that's when I started to get suspicious. Their answering service never gave a company name (which I forgot to write down) and it sounded more like a cheap Wal-Mart answering machine than anything that a business should have. They listed their hours as 10-6 EST, which I thought was odd for a credit card company, their customer service should be open longer for their customers' convenience. It took a week to get through during business hours, because I was always getting a busy signal. When I finally got through, I changed my phone # and asked the company name.

By then I was more than a little nervous. $369 is not pocket change to me, and I really wanted to know if this was a legitimate offer, so I did a search for Centric Travel Group, looking for their website so I could learn more about the company. The first 12 matches that popped up were complaints and rip off reports. There was one for centricgroup.com, so I clicked it, and this is what the first page said:

WARNING:
The Centric Group is in no way associated with any telemarketing offer including credit cards and travel promotions. If you have been directed to this website to verify any such telemarketing offer, please be aware that it is likely a fraudulent effort. Please contact your local Better Business Bureau, the Department of Justice or Department of Consumer Protection.

Once I saw that, and read the rip off reports, I realized what a sucker I am. My payment is scheduled in only three days, and I can't get through to their "customer service" so I will now try my bank to see if I can put a stop payment on it... I will close my account if I have to, but these people are NOT getting my money.
