Century International,Arms, Century Arms, CAI, CAI Arms Refused to repair or replace defective and dangerous pistol Delray Beach Florida

 I purchased a Canik TP-9 through a licensed federally licensed firearms dealer. The gun was dangerous as it continually hang-fired. About every third or forth shot. I'd pull the trigger and 3-5 seconds later the gun discharged. A few times I pulled the trigger, the gun would not fire but if I tapped it or started to pull slide rearward it fired.

I called Century three times. Each time I was promised a return call from somebody in their gunsmithing dept. Never receiving the return call. I contacted the distributer that sold it to my dealer. The distributer gave me a back door number. Calling the other number twice just got me the same promise of a return call that never came. I have 24 hour voice mail and also left Century my cell number. The distributer realizing the possible liability from a dangerous firearm agreed to exchange it.

I cruised the net and found similar and numerous other complaints about Century's warranty service. Many internet posters on different gun boards claim firearms are returned to the customer not repaired or as in my case the return call never comes. I believe there are other reports on Century but with their various names there may be some confusion.

My complaint is not in regards to Canik brand firearms. The replacement and two other Canik firearms I own are excellent and operate perfectly. The problem with my first TP-9 was due to manufacturing residue caught in the firing pin. Not having the skills to make the repair myself it should have been repaired by Century as the pistol has a one year warranty. Possibly if Century had just once out of five promises returned my call. It may have been an easy fix. It was simply to dangerous for myself to attempt the repair.

Due to ATF and USPS regulations. I could not simply mail the firearm back to the distributer. I had to pay a federally licensed firearms dealer to ship the pistol. I had to pay the dealer to process the federal paper work and postage. I got a replacement item but had to pay in excess of $80.00 in fees to the licensed dealer to process the return and another fee to process paperwork and back ground check for the replacement pistol.
