We took out mortages 3 years ago one with Champion Mortage (the other with Countrywide (report filed)). Champion placed lenders fire insurance to cover the mortage. On 6/5/03 our house burnt down (nothing left). We called Champion on that day and we were told not to worry they would suspend the account, notify the insurance company and JUNE 13TH payment would not be required.

We were given a claim number for WNC OVERBY-SEAWALL INS. We called the insurance company right away and informed them that Champion would be calling about what happened. On the 6/9/03 we called Champion and were informed that there was nothing in our file about the fire. We called the insurance to find out if a claim was filed with them and when a inspector would be coming. We were told that our loan was not insured with them so we called Champion back and were assured that they had insured the loan not to worry.

On 6/11/03 we called Champion again and were told that they were in the process of changing insurance companies and gave us a new claim number with Z C STERLING INS. We were told it could take a couple of months to settle but NO MORTAGE PAYMENTS REQUIRED. We called ZC STERLING and gave them our claim # and that Champion would file the claim. On 6/16/03 we received a letter from ZC showing a claim was filed.

SO WE THOUGHT EVERTHING WAS ALL SET! YEA RIGHT!! LITTLE DID WE KNOW THAT THIS BIG BOY CHAMPION MORTAGE WAS GOING TO STEP ON US TOO! From about 6/15/03 we were getting calls daily for mortage payments. We would explain what was happening and the next day another call or two. After a couple of weeks I was to the point that as soon as I heard the Champion name it felt like I was going to to sick. I would take me a while to calm down.

I tried being nice to them, yelling and even hanging up. We called and talked to people in the loan department to try to get these calls stopped, they did not help. We spoke to Maggie, her supervisor Linda, Melissa and Rosa. On or about 9/26/03 Champion received a check for 62,000.00 from the insurance comp. The calls did not stop. They harrassed and badgered us until 10/20/03 when they told us we had to pay them $4794.34 or they would foreclose. ($690.00) of that was for fire insurance).

WE PAID IT AND THE CALLS STOPPED. On 11/10/03 ZC sent us a letter that we were getting a rebate because the policy that went from 6/02/03-6/02/04 (NOTICE THE DATE)was canceled on 11/03/03. After many many calls to Champion we finally got a check for $359.13 on 12/26/03. WE WERE FORCED TO PAY MORTAGE AND INSURANCE PAYMENTS ON A HOUSE THAT WASN'T THERE!!!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!!!!
