we bought a puppy from the chancey kennel and were promised a healthy puppy. although there was a health certificate, i picked the puppy up from the airport and took her straight to the vet. she had earmites, worms and a fungus that is going to take up to 6 weeks to cure. i have to keep her confined to one room due to the fungus will spread to the house and family, my kids have not been able to play with it since we have had her and the puppy is being delayed on everything, I.E. house training, bounding and so on.

we paid 350.00 for the puppy and 250.00 to have her shipped and when i looked at the shipping receipt, the shipping was only like 118.00. on top of this the vet bills are now around 600.00 and i contacted tammy chancey and asked her to pay for half the vet bills or to work something out with us and she denied that.

we knew that we would be paying for the vet ck up but not 600.00 worth of vet bills due to an unhealthy dog. tammy chancey also stated when i was on the phone with her that her cat had a fungus and that her kids caught it and her kids play with the dogs including mine that i had bought, she said she had to get rid of the cat because the fungus kept coming back.

Thank you

AUTHOR: Heactera - (United States of America)

After reading this I decided to do some reasearch not only on this breeder but a lot of breeders that I looked into. Then I decided to look up teacup puppies all together. See I am a dog lover I have rescued dogs half of my life and lost my shih tzu last year. It broke my heart but I feel I am ready to adopt again. I was looking at breeds and I liked the chihuahua. So in searching for chihuahua puppies I came across teacup chihuahua puppies... I fell in love. After reading this however and the truth about teacups which is they are overbred, malnutritioned premature unhealthy puppies, my heart breaks for them. Tammy and any other breeder selling puppies like this should be thrown in jail. So some may come out healthy what about the ones that live their entire lives sick if they make it a long enough lifetime. I will not be purchasing my puppies from her or any other "teacup" breeder. Teacups are not a recognized breed because they are not real puppies. They are puppies conceived up to 72 hours after the first puppy in a female dog, they are puppies that usually have parasites which make them appear smaller to the buyer which in turn makes the breeder more money and its sick. It is animal abuse all on its own. Thank you for theses posts because if not for you I would have bought 2 puppies from her and aided in her procreation of unhealthy puppies. I hope someone sues their family for everything they have, they deserve to rot in prison for the cruelty they are committing to them dogs and them puppies. Thank you for saving me from that heartbreak, im sorry for yours. Heather-PA

My Chihuahua from

AUTHOR: linda - (United States of America)

My puppy had cossidia and giardia and is now 12 lbs at almost  9 months. I went to Tammys home to pick up my puppy and I was shown 5 and 6 lb Chihuahuas but was told my puppy was a runt and would be 3 lbs. I do not think the Chihuahuas I was shown are the parents of my dog. I have moved to Colorado where I now live and it would be too difficult to file a lawsuit from this distance.

Tammy Chancey is a good breeder

AUTHOR: Angel - (U.S.A.)

I just purchased a puppy from Tammy Chancey about 2 weeks ago. I am sorry to read about what happened to these other people. Actually, it was the reports that I read on this site that made me skeptical in the first place. I also decide to look into the hre licensing report with the GA Dept of Agricilture. She passed that report with flying colors. After I calmed down, and realized that I really wont be able to trust any breeder. I decided to still take a chance with Mrs. Chancey. Well I am 100% happy with my puppy. I decided to purchase a puppy for my 11 year old daughter for Christmas. I was VERY hesitant about getting a puppy over the internet and for shipping (health reasons). After a few conversations with Tammy I felt comfortable enough to purchase teacup Yorkie from her.. Tammy was there to answer any question that I had.... If she wasn't available that night she always called back with a few hours. She communicated with me constantly over the email. Tammy made sure that the puppy arrived safely and everything.

I took the puppy to the vet the very next morning and she got an excellent bill of health. The dog is very happy and runs and plays a lot. My daughter and I just adore her.

I just wanted to share my positive experience!

I agree

AUTHOR: Brenda - (U.S.A.)

your puppy shuld not have arrived with earmites, worms and fungus. That is what the pre flight vet certificate is for. I would be angry at the vet that ok'd this pup to fly.

That being said, they are minor things that anyone with dogs has to deal with at one time or another.

Please don't treat your puppy like a leper, she needs love and socialization and once these minor things are cleared up, I hope you will be happy with your new friend.

Shipping and handling

AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)

Most places and people call it shipping and handling. I understand what you have with the price only says shipping. I assume your just seeing the shipping costs for the actual shipping from who ever shipped it. Most contracts, if you even got one, would say shipping and handling.

I can only assume there is no contract because I think most contracts involving breeders will have a section for sick pets included and such.

If not, I'm sorry for you.

Hope the dog gets better.

just some more info...

AUTHOR: Tami - (U.S.A.)

the vet that i go to is one of 2 that is in my town and im not traveling 10 20 miles to see if there is a cheaper one, the office visit is 45.00 and then what ever they do is xtra... skin scraping 40.00 fungus culture 88.00 3 different kinds of med. around 60.00 and this is just some of the things i was charged for,

i wrote this rip off report because i was promised a healthy puppy and that means with out the fungus and whatever else it had, i did not get that and that is why i filed a complaint! i do know a little on how people should be treated and if you are paying for something you should get what you pay for,

the shipping was not stated for gas and other expenses, it stated shipping and that is what my 250.00 was suppose to go for, not a crate or gas money or a health ck that is suppose to be in the amount of the puppy!

weather or not my vet is to much money is not the point, the point is that she did not make good on her word!

#8 Consumer Suggestion

AUTHOR: Ann - (U.S.A.)

While I agree that your puppy should have arrived to you WITHOUT worms, earmites and the "fungus", these are all things that are easily treatable. Your local PetsMart sells earmite treatment and also dewormer. I realize that these things cannot be seen in most cases with the naked eye so your vet came in handy for that but that should maybe be an office call and just taking a stool sample (some vets charge $8-10 for this to check for worms) They just take a quick swab of the inside of the ear and look at a microscope to tell you it has earmites. Wow!! That wouldn't justify an outrageous amount of money...

And about that FUNGUS...any dog, cat or human could have that...I assume you are referring to Ringworm which in the human is also in the same family as Jock Itch or Athlete's Feet. Yes, it can make a ring (circle shape) on the skin. That's why they tell you to wear flip-flops in the shower room or at the swimming pool. Horses can get it from hay. Dogs can get it from sleeping in hay or straw. It is hard to detect unless you see the scaling or rings and know what it is. They can be bathed in an iodine shampoo and also a topical creme for Jock Itch can be used on the skin...keep away from the eyes.

While I would keep the kids away, I would still bond with this puppy and not treat her as if she has leprosy! Definitely keep her in a linoleum-covered area...not carpet until she has lost the "scaling" and has cleared up. You can still pet her and hold her--just wash and swipe your arms with the creme afterward. It is cruel to put a little baby in a room all by itself...I think Dr. Spock did that, didn't he? With adverse reaction and affect...Dogs are pack animals and they need to have a buddy. They get bored and boredom can turn into destructive behavior. You can still start his potty training...

It sounds like you are not very knowledgable about dogs or offense! A dog that you have for years can walk outside in your own yard and contract worms through his paws. Your child can actually pick up worms the same way through his bare feet. I know that if the puppy was wormed on a regular schedule, he wouldn't have shown positive for worms as they take a while to develop. This was poor on the breeder's part...however, earmites are hard to detect...many times you don't know unless you see your dog scratching and scratching his ears...then you can't SEE them but figure he has them and just put drops in his ears...$4!! Or make sure he gets Frontline monthly! (Your obligation anyway as a responsible pet owner!) So for you to say he is unhealthy, I do not believe that he is because with all due respect, his "ailments" are very minor and can be cleared within a few weeks. Thank goodness he didn't arrive with lethal PARVO, distemper or pneumonia... I think your breeder should at least refund $100, acknowledging that they let this puppy fall through the cracks. They charged $350 for the puppy...the money they charge for shipping does not mean they made any profit on it. Consider the time/gasoline to take it to the airport, pet carrier, charge for health certificate and vet call American Airlines or Delta and see what they charge to ship a pet alone one way. You will see. The $118 was probably the amount the airline billed the shipping company that has the account with them...the customer using the shipping company does not get the same break...
I'm sorry to hear about the puppy's problems but please enjoy your puppy---it's not her (his) fault that he was brought into this! If the breeder got rid of her cat that had the problem, sounds like she was just a little too lazy to take care of it and put the burden on someone else...or gave it a death sentence at the pound. At least you have made them aware that they need to be more careful about how they let their puppies leave and they need to make sure that they are parasite and fungus free!!

Give us an update! Hope your doggie is better soon!

Bear in mind that I'm not trying to sound like a "know-it-all" but I've had lots of pets for years and I've been there, done that.
