This college is massively disorganized, deceptive, and bureaucratic. They charge you a semester fee (the only college that does so) including summers, and have schemes setup designed to elongate your graduation. This fee is $265/semester. They are nice at the beginning when they want your money, and they have a different team assigned to handle admissions. They have the gall to ask you for $75 to "apply" before asking any real questions (yes, really).

Their website is cluttered, disorganized, and extremely misleading. I enrolled in the college in January 2015, and was told my financial accounting course would be accepted for credit, and that my English courses would as well. They later backtracked on that and I was only able to get them to correct it since I established a paper trail and recorded everything.

If there is something you need to absolutely do is RECORD EVERYTHING INCLUDING PHONE CALLS and all e-mail correspondence. They will try to deny anything was ever said to cover their own behinds.

Secondly, my advisor told me I would be able to graduate this summer, but due to vague, and out of date information on their website, put me in a unique situation (they are currently abolishing their own Bachelor's Degree in General Studies degree in Business and turning it into a B.S. in Business Administration degree) where I fulfilled the old degree's course requirement but not the new one even though it's the same course. Under the old degree, MGT/BUS 499 "Strategic Management" needed 30 concentration/major credits, and under the new one, I needed 36 credits even though it's the same course – which is fine if this information was available to me which was not since it was neither on the website, nor did the advisor know. I was told by my advisor that this information would be on the website, "soon" and this was 3 months ago.

Now the funny thing is the college also told me that I could take this course in Strategic Management ELSEWHERE, and then later backtracked on it – which I have proof of. When I tried reasoning with them that A) their website and information is simply lacks the necessary information and B) I already have taken the course that I need to take but can't sign up for, I was met with silence and responses that shied away from a direct answer (they were/are doing this to avoid admitting guilt for legal/liability purposes).

So far the college has been adamant on preventing me from taking a course through their college (i.e. ME GIVING THEM MONEY) due to bureaucratic red tape. They don't want to admit blame, but I've got the evidence through e-mail correspondence. I've tried reasoning with them that this isn't a graduation application, this is just a course (which they told me I could take elsewhere INCORRECTLY and which I unnecessarily paid money for).

So overall, the college is UNRELIABLE, UNRESPONSIBLE, and UNETHICAL.

They are just a financial trap designed, as far as I can tell, to artificially elongate your graduation because the longer you're there the more money they can make from you. They always push their overpriced garbage online courses which have no academic rigor or quality to them. They use adjunct instructors from other institutions since they have none of their own. They make you take two courses through the college, one called IDS 101, which is basically a watered down version of English Composition (yes you need 2 semesters of English as well), whichd oesn't teach anything English 101 & 102 don't teach, and is just designed to make money for the college.

They also are condescending and treat you like garbage since a lot of students couldn't get into good colleges, or probably shouldn't be in college. I had to make a point on multiple times that I was ALREADY college educated (from a foreign country WITH a previous Bachelor's degree), and a professional at that, and that I was only doing this SECOND Bachelor's degree since I needed a "Regionally Accredited" degree for my employer (any federal or state employer will typically require this and foreign ones usually aren't).

Overall, I have caught the college, on multiple occasions now, make several mistakes, never admit responsibility, and place all the blame on the student(s). Fortunately, I've been documenting everything, crossing my Ts, and dotting my Is, and am ready to go to court should they not let me take this course (and on their website it also says you just need to be in their last semester to take the course, and then they tell me no? Please.)

If I could do it again, I would have gone through Thomas Edison State College. I chose Charter Oak because I thought it would be cheaper by about $1,000 – but it's looking like their shenanigans and financial trap to delay graduation are cutting into any potential savings. Thomas Edison is slightly more expensive (Charter Oak should have cost me about $4,000 and Thomas Edison State College about $5,000), but has the nice benefit that they have less stringent requirements, don't require you to take any courses through them, and accept more credits. They are more laid back as far as I can tell, whereas Charter Oak State College is IRRATIONALLY bureaucatic. They are wrong, and they are wrong quite a lot – and no one wants to take responsibilty either.
