I applied for as Chase Credit Card at Toys R Us in Woodbridge VA to receive a 10 percent discount on a product I was Purchasing. After the clerk processed the transaction the request for credit came back denied. I thought that was kind of strange because I know I have outstanding credit.

About a week later I received a letter from Chase Bank indicating my request was denied because my Credit report shows current/past bankruptcy, charge off, public record. The Chase reference number is 090405505136. The letter stated their credit decision was base whole or in part on information obtained in a report from the comsumerrporting agency Equifax P.O. Box 740241 Atlanta, GA 30374-0241, 800-685-1111 Equifax.com/fcra.

I immediately logged on to Equifax web site and down loaded a copy of my credit report. No where in the credit report was there mention of any bankruptcy or any other derogatory information.

As I said above I have outstanding credit and have definetely never filed bankruptcy. I am just curious to how this happened and have noticed similar reports filed by other consumers against Chase Banks.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Equifax Mortgage Solutions, Inc Gibbsboro, NJ is NOT real EQUIFAX in Atlanta, GA

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 27, 2009

I will reply to this bank as we recently were involved in a USDA rural land development loan for a residential home and since there was no Chase Bank office here, we were forced to go through mortgage broker. But, what we found is he (and other regional banks in our area) pull credit reports from a group called Equifax Mortgage Solutions, Inc out of Gibbsboro, NJ and they are NOT Equifax the credit reporting agency nor affilitaed to them and I and my wife and others are asking why??

What we found was after we submitted documentation to all 3 major bureaus as consumers must do to update information, we are being denied a loan application to proceed because the mortgage lender here charged us to get reports from this Equifax Mortage Solutions and it is NOT the real Equifax. But their report does not show our true credit report info updated and after calling each of tyhe 3 majors, we found they had no idea about this Gibbsboro, NJ tri-pulling organization some banks/brokers are using. WHY??? The mortgage broker refuses to use the documentation we provided to the 3 major credit bureaus and only wants to see it reflecte don the Equifax Mortgage Solutiuons, Inc tri-pulling site!! Who are these people? I called them and they were ruse but admitted they are NOT affiliated to the 3 major credit bureaus and are NOT a credit bureau.. SO why did this broker and even a BB&T Bank mortgage lender pull reports out of them when they are not true or accurate or the real reporting agencies???

What we were told today, is to proceed with our applciation, we would be charged $127.00 from the mortgage broker to have this Equifax Mortgage Solutions update their info based on our documentation the real bureaus have, and then it would reflect in our scores going higher superficially ahead of the time the actual reporting agencies do make the updates, as they normally have 30 days to do so.

Right now we have a realtor and mortgage broker pressuring us to pay this charge to a 3rd party organization and it is not right, and the real credit bureaus have our documentation and are in process of updating yet the realtor and mortgage broker are saying the deal will be killed unless we pay this charge and in less than 72 hours, he tells us the tri-pulling group in NJ will inflate the scores higher to save time waiting on the regular 3 major bureaus to do so!! We are not asking for handouts here as we have respectable cash downpayment in the bank as well for this home!

Anyone ever hear of this group as my CPA also is outraged and we do not want to lose this home opportunity, yet are being held captive from the mortgage broker proceeding and the realtor pressing us and Chase Bank even told us when called, they had no idea about this..?? Any fraud investigator will tell you NEVER pay anyone to change your credit scores or information as ONLY the consumer can do so legally and safely to the 3 major agencies- Equifax, transUnion, Experian.

Contact Equifax

I would contact Equifax and ask them to please send you a copy of the report they sent to Chase. If Chase made the decision based on what Equifax reported then Equifax has the wrong information for some reason. If they do you need to have them send you report so that you can dispute the information and get it corrected if needed so that this doesn't happen in the future. It also could be a sign that someone has stolen your identity and declared Bankruptcy on something using your information. Contact the three credit bureaus immediately to see if there is anything else that is strange on your reports so that you can verify if this has happened. You should be able to contact either an attorney or possibly your bank to have them help you correct your notate your credit history if something is wrong or something fraudulent took place. Good Luck!
