When we were getting a mortgage thru chase the sales mgr Don Roberts told us at the absolute max our closing costs would be was $2,000. When we got to closing imagine our surprise when the costs were $10,000 . Mr Roberts forgot to mention that we would be charged points. We were also forced to get flood insurance on a property that according to the Fema maps was not located in a flood plain but according to their interpretation of the map it was but come to find out at closing they own a company that interprets these maps . We were too far along in the process to turn back but I can gurantee that as soon as possible we will be changing banks for our mortgage as well as all of our accounts. Then 30 days after closing they send a letter stating that we don't have enough fllod insurance coverage and need $9,000 more coverage and if we don't get it they will secure it for us. Please for your sanity's sake don't ever ever deal with them

What happened to the Truth In Lending statement you were suppose to have received BEFORE closing? Did you not get one? IF you did, what did it say? Went to one closing, one time and they had TRIED to write some other stuff in. I told 'em nothing doing. They deleted it. IF I got to closing and they attempted to jack it up $8,000, I'd tell them to go f**k themselves. Also you can buy your own flood insurance through the federal gov. It's very cheap. Maybe a couple of hundred dollars per year, AT MOST. You might be able to get a "rider" for the additional insurance that they say you need. Check with YOUR insurance person.
