been late with one payment, and when I asked why, they said the customer service rep made a mistake by cancelling my account. To open it again, I would have to start all over again with my credit history.
First, since it was their mistake, why not take responsibility for their error, and simply reinstate my card?
In April, I spoke with a manager for Chase Cards, and he assured me that I could use my card, and he apologized to me for the service reps mistake. I go to use the card on 06/25/08, and I am told the card was rejected. It had plenty of credit on it for my purchase.
I look at my CC and discover the card had expired on 05/08. I had not received a new one.
I called Chase again, and spoke with 2 of their managers. They simply told me that, yes, it was a mistake, but the account could not be reopened. Again I asked why, since I have never been late or over the limit with my payments. "Our risk crew decided not to reopen it," he told me. I then asked for all the reasons in writing. "Credit" is an honor, and we don't have to give it to you", he concluded.
Well, then my blood began to boil. Their high interest rates in all the years that I have been paying for my two cards, were "not" gifts. And then they do this to a good paying customer.
We need to do something about these corporate big shots. They have no right to make up the rules as they go along, without just cause. The raise their rates as high as 35%, and get away with it.

that's crappy

sorry to hear that but chase doesn't have interest rates that are over 30%. now other banks do on the other hand. it sounds like your acct was autoclosed. what that means is every acct is review, most are review when they are up for expiration, some are review if there are many changes on your credit report. many changes can happen on your credit report such as your debt to income ratio, how much credit you are using and so forth. so when it is review the bank may decided to close your acct becuase your report no longer supports having the acct opened and a replacement card with a new expiration date is not sent out, crappy right?
