I applied for a loan modification with Chase in August 2009, based on a hardship of my husband having been laid off work (with Chase) and then getting a job with Fed Mod loan modification and having them write him bounced paychecks and because I am a State of California worker who has been furloughed.  I waited a month and then called and was told it was still in underwriting and it would be about a total of 90 days but that I should call back every week or two, which I did.  In November I was told that I was denied in October, of course though when I called in October, they never told me this.  I asked what the denial was based on and they said my hardship was not permanent, I asked "why would you want any hardship to be permanent, if you are out of a job you would hope to find one or would hope the furlough would soon end" of course, they had no answer for that, except to tell me to re-file.  I called a couple more times because I still had not received the denial letter.  Every time I called, I would get rude people on the phone, one who did a sing-song, you're denied, you're denied, you're denied, over and over again.  I asked to talk to a supervisor but was only given a voice mail.  I then called loss mitigation and finally got a nice person on the phone, who crunched some numbers and came up with a 3 month trial modification where I was to pay $1,904.46 for three months, while they sent us new paperwork to fill out and re-submit.  I did a check by phone and it was cashed.  I waited a couple of weeks and then called back to see where the paper work was, only to be told that the person who gave me the trial mod had no authority to do so and that my money was being held in a suspended account until another 2,000.00 was paid.  My loan had gone up from $2,701.00 to $3,943.00 a month!!  They now tell me that I can not refile for a modification since I have now been denied twice.  I can not believe the run around.  If I had not called back, I would have gone into foreclosure.  I have even been told by them that I must make the payments, only to have another person tell me that by making the payments, I am showing them that I can pay, which then puts me in the denial category.  I feel I have been terribly wronged by Chase and I would love to file some sore of class action suit against them or have an Attorney represent me.  I wonder if anyone is ever granted a mod through Chase.  I have a co-worker, who has a different mortgage company and who was not furloughed, yet he used the furlough letter and claimed a hardship and his loan was modified.  I don't know what to do next?
