I religiously check my debit card at least once a day and this morning found a charge for 1.05 from a Check Bill WAUSA Kirkland, WA. This charge was made on 04/24/08 (my birthday to add insult to injury!) at 8:18 p.m.
I immediately called my card holder and was told that because it is in pending status there is nothing they can do. This stinks. I think that in the pending process is the absolute best time to cancel it!
I decided there was something I could do. I went and withdrew most of the money from the account, then went home and reported the card stolen. They may still get the 1.05, but they won't have access to the new card.
The only unknown site I have visited recently and used my debit card as at U.S. Search. I was looking for a friend to inform her that another friend is dying. How pathetic is that?
