Almost 2 months ago sent a "guaranteed for life" product (headphones for metal detecting) back for repair.

Was promised a 24 turn around.

Merchant rarely answers emails, does not give contact information other than emails for follow-up.

Finally got ahold of merchant via email inquiring about status and he said label had fallen off and he resent item.  Merchant did not furnish tracking or any other proof of shipping.

Not only does the package have no proof of being shipped, in his corrospondance said he emailed about the mixup.  Since he obviously lied about the email I have to believe after 2 months on not receiving the package was never sent and the merchant again is lying when he says he shipped, the package returned and reshipped.  Anyone worthy of running a reputal business would have shown proof of shipping especially after all the problems that he declares already occurred.

Obviously the merchant feels there can be no retribution from me being I am in another country.  Since he has shown he is a liar, he probably has no ethics and cheating is another trait he seems to possess.

Please post my complaing because i certainly feel helpless in regarding getting any satisfaction in this case any other way.

Hope to make others aware of difficulties of dealing with "Detecting the Past" who sells Chefphones for metal detecting and goes by the name of Geoff or Danny.

Tim Mallia

P.s. This item was bought off Ebay using paypal.  The merchant no longer has an ebay account.

It is obviously up to Mr Malia whether he believes that the first postage attempt was returned and reading his attempted deformation I presume he won't but the second attempt was enacted on the 26th of February (proof attached).

While we do attempt to turn around repairs in 24 hours this is based on straightforward faults and from what Mr Malia had informed us his fell in to this category, however when his headphones arrived it was found that the supporting arm had completely snapped off which, when we enquired, Mr Malia freely admitted he had snapped in the process of attempting to rectify the problem, this I may add takes a great deal of force to do. This obviously is not covered under the lifetime guarantee but we felt obliged to attempt a repair as we had given him the go ahead to attempt a repair. This second repair did take us 4 working days to sort out but when this was done the headphones were dispatched.

As Mr Malia knows from the time his headphones took to get to us in the UK (3 weeks) it does take some time by standard mail.

Unfortunately the benefit of a lifetime guarantee is sometimes abused by customers creating sever faults in the hope of a new set of headphones and can get quite petulant when this doesn't happen and that is why we attempt repairs on the vast majority of damaged headphones.
