Started on February 25, 1977 by J.C "White Cloud" Reynolds, a non-Native American (with no Native American ancestry), the Cherokee Indians of Georgia, Inc., proclaimed it's purpose to be to support and promote his "Cherokee Heritage and Cherokee ancestors."  J.C. Reynolds, who appointed himself as "Principal Chief," IS NOT Native American.  He and his ancestors are all white of European decent.  The Cherokee Indians of Georgia, Inc., was incorporated as a non-profit group in order to  entice people to donate money and land for Mr. Reynolds and his non-Indian family to use.

Currently, James "Young Bear" Reynolds (brother of J.C.) has been appointed as "Principal Chief," with an office in Albany, GA.  On its website, the Cherokee Indians of Georgia claim to have received a donation of 250  acres of land for "tribal" use, and are asking for money donations. An acre of land with an old school on it was donated to them.  They also claim to have a "Tribal Complex Center located on Eight 1/2 spacious Acres!"

The "tribe" further states on its website that it filed a letter of intent to petition the Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs for official "recognition" as a tribe.  The website states that the reason they have not been recognized as a genuine Cherokee Indian tribe is because "it is an on going process that requires a lot of research."  The truth of the matter is that the Bureau of Indian Affairs made a request back in 1977 for Mr. Reynolds to submit proof of his Native American heritage.  As of 2015 no such proof has been submitted.  The Bureau of Indian Affairs will NOT recognize the Cherokee Indians of Georgia, Inc., for two reasons:

1.  The officers, or "Chiefs," of this non-profit group are not Native American;

2.  There are ONLY two federally recognized Cherokee tribes:  The Eastern Band and the Western Band of Cherokees.  Via treaties with these two genuine Cherokee Tribes, they are the ONLY tribes that will be officially recognized.

On their website, the Cherokee Indians of Georgia, Inc., states that their "Cherokee ancestors chose to remain in Georgia."  Did they forget "their history?"  Cherokees were rounded up and forceably removed from Georgia in 1838.  This was known as the infamous "Trail of tears."  None "chose" to remain in Georgia.

Not only does the Cherokee Indians of Georgia, Inc., and particularly, the Reynolds family, ripoff donors in the false guise of being Native American, but this fake Indian group ripsoff genuine Native Americans.
