Went to Chic Boutique in February 2012 and put a prom dress on layaway for my daughter. I finally picked up the dress April 24, total came to $325 and change. Took dress home and on April 25th took the dress to my seamstress who I have dealing with for quite a few years now. Once my daughter tried on the dress and stepped out for her to alter she noticed that several bead were missing and also the sequences from the gown was missing and some falling off. She refused to alter the dress and upon further investigation she said it appeared that the dress was already worn. I then went back to Chic Boutique and spoke to the clerk in the store she advised me that since I put the dress on layaway that the dress is not refundable nor can you exchange it for another. I showed her the missing bead and sequence and basically was trying to tell me that she was taking it back, I was stuck. [continued below]....
..... When I told her that the seamstress said it appeared as it was worn she said "she dumb." Wow, you call her professional? I don't think so! A customer who was also shopping came to the aid of this non-professional sales clerk and screamed in my face I should ordered my dress from her catalog. Really I am being told of this now, now that I have my dress in hand and out $325. The sales clerk was rude to me and stood her ground not to take back my dress apparently she said she would sew the sequence on. I am not liking this idea and think this woman is nothing but a con-artist. If the gowns on display were available for the world to try on then I should have been discounted for the dress and made aware of her store policy instead of charging me full price for a floor model. Shame on them and I advise anyone out there trying to buy a gown from them just beware and make sure you order from the catalog and not the sales rack. They got me once they WILL NOT get me again!!!!
