george lee is now a breeder in arizona.  he ripped me off just like what happened to him. I paid for the puppy and nothing was given. He was investigated by the police and the federal office consumer complaint.  He owes me my money for the puppy I paid in full.  The next step I must sue him !  Watch out he uses his disability as an excuse !  Very dishonest man.

The kid who wrote this original report is an IDIOT.  He should never be allowed to own an animal and moreover since hi is genetically defective, he should never be allowed to breed himself!  SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOU KID!!!! I have bought two chihuahua puppies from Chris Hansen and she is the most forthright, honest and truly caring breeder I have ever met.  She only wants a good home for the puppies she breeds and her former website had literally thousands of testimonials from happy parents/owners of her puppies.  The two puppies I purchased were well adjusted and very healthy.  She not only gave me the CKC breeding papers but also had given them all their shots.  She was a breeder who did not breed for the money but she bred chihuahua puppies for the love and enjoyment of it.  Regardless of the disability of the person who wrote this horrible defamation and slanderous report, Im sure there are millions of hearing disabled people who can spell and use proper grammar.  To slander Ms. Hansen and berate her grammar when you cannot spell or use proper grammar either is absurd and you should be ashamed of yourself.  If you wanted a puppy that badly, dont do it on the internet, go to a store and pick one out that you can see.  Im sure that innocent puppy you cold heartedly rejected because of a bite issue only needed and wanted to be loved and you should be ashamed that you rejected it.  You dont deserve to own a puppy as you are obviously too immature or too stupid to handle the responsibility.  Shame shame shame on you!  I can attest that Chris Hansen was and is a loving caring chihuahua breeder who remains a dear friend and I know that no matter where I go or what happens, she will always be there for any of the people who adopted her beautiful healthy puppies!  And I will swear on a stack of bibles to this statement!

I have to say this story is very interesting to read! Ratherly strange but quite hilarious, though! George made a mistake to purchase the Chihuahua puppy from obvious a backyard breeder and he should have research about reputable breeders before purchasing a right one. Don't get me wrong but look at Chris' website and I personally believe she is a backyard breeder with no questions!

Chris loaded a lot of animals in her house. She seems to live in both areas of Florida and New York? That seem to be very odd. My point is, how can you provide a special attention to each of furbabies? 200 pets in a house? Please forgive me but it sounds like Chris is not married? She never mention anything about her husband on the website. Most of time, she commented about her two sons. I am very surprised at how she can really HANDLE these animals!! It's quite amazing. I'd love to stop by and take a look at her house. How she'd handle with many pets in her house. Plus, she stated that her mother has died. And then she had some illness problems. Yet, she is still selling overpriced Chihuahua puppies on her website.

I've read both side stories of George's and Chris'. George thought he is getting a perfect Chihuahua. He obviously was a kid. He didn't know what he was suppose to do. Nobody is perfect. Human being and accept the fact that we are not like Jesus. Chris- I am very curious what if your sons did something really wrong and will you still call them bad names like you did to George? In this situation- I'd give my power to laws to do something about it but calling bad names? I think it was very un-necessary, really. You are older and you were suppose to know what to do with bad situations. You cannot say I have many satifsted customers for 20 years but of course, every breeders should face some bad times. You shouldn't write too much on your website and it makes more suspection.

Taking personal pictures of George's is very highly not proper way to do it because it is WRONG to take the pictures without asking for the permission. How would you feel if someone took the pictures of your website's Chihuahuas without asking your permission? I am sure you will be tick off. Have you ever think about that? There is always risk in every detail situations. I'd have to be honest with you, Chris. You probably rip off a lot of buyers in the past. You might think you ran away with it but really, maybe George got you now. That is why you had to defend yourself and try to make a clean slate out of it. You wanted a revenge on him just because he was a kid and he made a mistake. He stole money and purchased a Chihuahua puppy off from you. Sure! That is bad but not a crime. Stealing a candy just because he wants it. Karma is going to be a payback for sure.

I personally believe that George was ripped off by Chris Hanson. Chris is selling a Chihuahua with defect genetic for $2,600.00 dollars and registered with CKC (you basically can register CKC with a mixed breed). CKC doesn't means anything. AKC is the true registry, end of discussion. Maybe that is why George was very upset when he found out about Murphy's overbite and not breeding quality. It is good thing that he decided to do the right thing by sending Murphy back to you. Maybe you gotcha to do the same thing. You should do the right thing. Poor these furbabies on your website. You have a health problem. You need to educate your older sons to get REAL jobs. Breeding Chihuahuas doesn't solve anything for you. Just because you thought you could make a lot of money out of breeding Chihuahuas while you have a health problem.

I disagree. Breeding Chihuahuas. Showing Chihuahuas. Offering health screen. Improving the lines for betterment type of AKC standard. Protect health guarantee plus against any defect genetic for 1 year or more. Always honest with buyers. You will never make a profit by breeding/selling them. You also mentioned on yourwebsite that you do rescue Chihuahuas/other dogs. It doesn't make a sense to me. You sell overpriced non-AKC Chihuahuas with defect genetics and yet, rescuing some dogs? It's so confusion on your website. I wonder if I should question your intelligent.

I am not on your side nor George's but stating my opinion out. It is very sad that you remain being immature about his situation. If you want to be smart about it. How to prevent that situations like George's? STOP BREEDING PET QUALITY CHIHUAHUAS. If you truly love Chihuahuas then you will do the right thing. Research more. Breed for the right reasons.

I also assumed a lot of Chris' buyers commented on this and against George's side. I feel pity on them because I believe all of them are Chris' ripped off buyers with no breeding experiences. They obviously purchased pet quality puppies from Chris. That is why they thought she is an excellent breeder. Only if they should compare Chris to other many reputable breeders. Her website is quite sick. It hurt my eyes when I read her website. Poor Emily. Poor Buttercup. Poor all of ponies. Poor every animals lived in her house. I cannot imagine if someone have 100 children in a house and couldn't give a proper special attention to each one. It's the same thing as with animals. I would bet a million dollars on this that Chris asked her favorite buyers to comment against George's. I haven't seen anyone who are on George's sides. It is because he probably don't want to deal with backyard breeders like Chris. It's good thing that he was a kid and I am sure he knows what to do with right breeders in the next time. He seems to be very brilliant.

Chris- don't get hatred on me. Like I said, an opinion is always opinion. What do you have to lose? NOTHING. :) All I am saying is that growing some balls and do something about your poor animals! ATTACKING ON A KID wasn't necessary, really. If someone is attacking on your kids and I am sure you will stand in every ways as much as you can. Even though, your kids may be wrong or not. You cannot just say oh my boys are perfect angels. They are nothing like George! Yeah right. :)

I just bought two chihuahuas from Chris Hansen & First off I would like to say that your accusations are incorrect, I know this because I tried to get my daughter to purchase a dog from Chris, But she does not accept minors to purchase a Chihuahua without an adult present & with an okay of everyone else in the house including landlords. She is very strict about who see's her animals. She is very clean & educated with every aspect of her animals. She has always answered all my questions immidiately, Wether it be by phone or email, or even in the middle of the night; she has always been there. She is a wonderful dog breeder & I dont know who could seriously say something so untrue, & it is obvious that this is incorrect. Anyone person who has bought from her could tell you this.
Its funny that you judge her grammar, but what does that have to do with breeding dogs. Oh & by the way if you were that interested in picking a reputable breeder you would read everything on the site including the small print at the bottom of her website that says I make no apologies for my typing. Or something along the lines of that. Also, I have been to Chris' house plenty of times & I think that her chihuahuas are in perfect conditions they are bathed fed sheltered & happy dogs. & you speak of immature but how mature are you to bring heath problems into this. That has nothing to do with anything, as well as her breeding dogs. She takes very good care of all her animals & spends all days & nights caring for these animals thinking she can trust that they will end up in a good home. i have not replied to this sooner as i did not want to even give it the respect,or credability of lowering myself to reply , lol but here goes..
this site is allowing people to say anything false anything to defame a person with a perfect hard earned reputation.
George lee is a deaf guy from arizona , He contacted me a month after my mother died. I sold him a dog and shipped it to him . he owed money on it , swore he was not a breeder, promised to send the balance owed within a month .
never did and i paid paid 200 to ship to him.
months later i was never paid the money owed to me, i was looking at other websites and came upon a site selling my dog (the one thatwent to lee)
he was sellingit for 2600 , i emailed him as i hadnt sent his ckc papers due to the face he never gave me the baance for the dog nor the money i paid continental for shipping. We are talking now about 6 months after sale and shipping. I had accepted it as a loss until i found a site Lees little magic chihuahuas (since has been changed) , selling my dog. Ok so i contact him He calimed to be in his 20s by the way . he had paid me on paypal. i demanded the balance owed to me, and the shipping money , with that within 24 hours i got an email from paypal stating the 2,000 he sent me had been retracted due to an unauthorized paypal payment. So now im out the dog, who was handraised by me , the shipping money and other costs like tolls and paypal charged me for the fee.
SOOOO i disputed it with paypal however i lost due to the fact that the name on the paymnet was the girlfriends mother and she had not allowed the transaction.
i feel foolish even replying to this stupidity ,
Sooo i told LEe that if i dint get my money or the dog back hed be arrested asap.
i told him the police would knock at his door, and he wouldnt hear it because he was deaf,
fearing hed be arrested he went and stole the dog back from the girl who had purchased it from him (knowing full well it was stolen from me ) .
this girl contacted me and tried to make me help her to get the dog back.
She called the police and reported that LEe had broken into her home and stolen the dog back.
'after a few more threats of legal justice, lee shipped the dog back to me,as i had proof of his crime and he knew it full well .'
meantime i had posted about him on my site to alert other breeders as he had told me he was just a nice deaf kid who wanted a pet,
He was trying yto be a breeder, I recieved several emails from other breeders who had similar experience with this person. he is crazy and posted this ridiculous ripoof lie ,i have proof of everything i say.

ok so now il rebutt the other post i just read, im a bit suspicious that it is also done by someone who knows lee, the reason for this is simple, i have not heard anything from this person, i am fair and honest and respectable and i have a conscious . I am a respected reputable person . breeding dogs for many years and have many vet refernces i can give. I to the best of my knowledge never sold my dogs to a vet teck from md, and if there was a problem why was i not notified Never , Seems to me if someone had such a trouble i would have heard something back from the client. Seems like maybe Lee is behind this one.
i have a great reputation and care very much where my dogs go . Should there have been a congenitalproblem witha pup i would have done the right thing however our dogs have had virtually no problems or any serious ones.

I bought a chihuahua from Chris Hansen a few years ago and even though the dog is a beautiful, smart, and extremely kind chihuahua she has some congenital problems, ie. born with/ hereditary problems due to the breeding lineage.

As a veterinary student I have had acess to numerous veterinarians who are specialists and board certified in certain fields, and my dog has seen quite a few of them unfortunately.

As a puppy, right around the time she brought to the vet for her shots/spay/etc I also was told to bring her to a board certified ophthamologist, who diagnosed her with bilateral entropion. This means both her lower eyelids were curled up a bit and irritating her eyes by rubbing her corneas which caused excessive lacrimation, meaning she had lots of tears evident by LOTS of staining and she was a puppy! You could also tell she was very uncomfortable because she was constantly squinting. This procedure cost $600.
It's also rare to occur in chihuahuas but the cause of this is most likely hereditary.

Then, when she was about three years old she was diagnosed with Idopathic Congenital Epilepsy. She had her first seizure at the age of 2. She was never hypoglycemic as a puppy and was NOT hypoglycemic when she seized and anytime thereafter that she has seized. We saw a board certified veterinary neurologist at the Veterinary School's teaching hospital where I was attending as a Vet student. She had numerous tests, and evaluations done to find an infectious cause for the seizures that were occuring this multiple time around. She had an MRI scan of her brain, and even a tap into her spine to analyze the fluid.

All the results came back negative, leading to the conclusion that she was Epileptic and again another most likely hereditary condition. The cost for a student was discounted by 50%, but overall it cost $1,600 in diagnostics so for a non-student it would have cost over $3,000 and she needs mediation for life, which I have not started on her yet on the advice of my neurologist because she is still young and the seizing does not warrant it yet.

So, I am constantly worrying about her when she is left alone. Also, my chihuahua does not have the apple head as all the chihuahua babies on the site show recently. The dome head can actually have an increase in other CNS disorders but fortunately she does not have any of these other typical chihuahua problems, just again another rare one for chihuahuas, the epilepsy.

However, she does have the common chihuahua luxating patellas in both hindlegs, and so far has not needed surgery to repair them.

Another common chihuahua problem she has is reverse sneezing, and a collapsing trachea again no surgery has been needed for this but she was worked up for it by an Internal Medicine specialist because it has called for concern.

NOW THE MAJOR PROBLEM! She has recently been diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus. A condition very rare in dogs, and rare in chihuahuas. She had an extensive work up with an Internal Medicine board certified vet for the symptom that this diease causes which is drinking excessively, and peeing excessively. She drinks entire bowls full of water, and then pees out completely clear fluid every hour. This is a very terrible disease that has no cure and is treatable but most owners usually euthanize their pets because of the incontinence that begins to develop and can not afford to bring them to a specialized vet who can diagnose this. My dog is only 4 1/2 years old and now had an ultrasound of her kidneys, liver, and adrenals, and bladder to check for failure that could be causing this and she had tests done for

Cushing's Disease and bacterial cultures and analysis of her urine several times. And, note this disease is NOT diabetes melitis this is a different disease it has nothing to do with elevated blood sugar. Sadly, if she doesn't have constant acess to water she can dehydrate so rapidly she can go into a coma and die all because she can not concentrate her urine.

Her medication costs $130 for a 2.5ml bottle and this entire work up would have cost probably over $2,000 but again as a veterinary student I was alloted a discount for my pets. Now, how would she have gotten this? Again, it's most likely genetic. It's a problem with a part of the brain that sends out the hormone to be able to concentrate urine.

I would never ever trade in my chihuahua for the world because she is the most precious and wonderful dog. Luckily, I even bought her for about 3x less than these puppies that are listed on her site. Unfortuantely, for the many people that are now spending over 1,500-2,000 for a puppy and are actually believing that this is the best bred chihuahua you can buy for your money are highly mistaken. I have had 2 people very close to me recently buy dogs from her and even though those dogs are only 1 year old now I will be able to track their progress and see if they end up with significant problems as my chihuahua does if so then that will be a serious alarm.

So, I would be cautious on who you send your thousands to for a chihuahua puppy. I'm not sure many people realize that chihuahuas are overbred and usually end up in shelters, in fact I have a chihuahua who is extremely healthy that was dumped at a shelter and she is only 1/2lb larger than my CKC breeder bought chihuahua and she has the correct apple head.

So, please investigate breeders because as nice as Bedell's chihuahuas owner and dogs are they can have some fatal hereditary problems and I personally wouldn't want to spend thousands for such a puppy. Even though it will be making me plenty of profit as a vet I DO NOT WANT to see these poor chihuahuas being put to sleep because of a breeder who isn't aware of what problems she is breeding into her dogs, and she should most certainly claim her dogs as pets and not show dogs since some of the problems my dog had are actually disqualifications in show dogs, ie. entropion.

Hence, she should not be selling these puppies at such exuberant prices. Also, don't forget to check your shelters for the ones people have thrown away they need our help and chihuahua devotion.

I saw this on the internet and had to reply. I too purchased a chihuahua from Chris after doing EXTENSIVE research on breeders.

Chris is none of the thing these kids have claimed. We were so grateful to have found a reputable, responsible and conscientious breeder in an industry that is riddled with unethical people. As the other consumer has stated, she is never to busy to answer questions and does know more about this breed than many vets. She truly cares about each and every pup she has brought into this world.

Ironically, I remember Murphy before he was initially adopted. I saw him in person when I went to visit my own pup before she was ready to go home. Unlike many breeders, Chris looks at each pup individually to determine when it is safe to separate them from their mother or sibling and will not simply stamp on a basic 8 or 12 week timeframe.

Murphy was adorable but we did not want a male. Personally, I don't feel they should have been seeking a "pet" to breed (especially at their age) -- there ARE too many breeders out there just for the money but I can ASSURE anyone reading this -- Chris is not one of them.

I am a highly educated person and have never responded to something like this before, however I felt compelled as it is far to easy to tarnish a good reputation on today's internet.

Bedell's Chihuahua's are amazing and Chris is a wonderfully dedicated breeder in her business for all the right reasons. Keep up the good work Chris, who have brought joy to countless families.

I just wanted to say thank you for warning abour Chris Hansen. I absolutely will not buy any puppies from Chris in the future. I will make sure to let my family and friends to know about this. And I want to say how sorry I am about your situation. There are many breeders that aren't into Chihuahuas for love but money only. It's really sad. Know what? I am very proud of you, George. You are a young kid but you just had a comeback about Chris Hansen. Chris is a immature older lady. She should knows better. I wish you and your lovely girlfriend a good luck!

You have no idea what you are talking about!! Chris is the best breeder and a wonderful person. I bought my pup from her, she is a great dog ,plus Chris answers all my emails and questions about anything and everything, i couldnt ask for a better breeder...

It seems to me like you got yourself in quite a bit of trouble and you are trying to make up crazy stories about one of the few good breeders out there!!!

YOU ..obviously are not well educated. You have the ERVE to say she uses bad grammar??? LOL... She LOVES her dogs, I went to her house to pick my dog up and she was beyond amazing. Why in the world would you throw in her face she has a health problem??? that just shows how ignorant you really are!!!!

I am sooooooooo in love with my dog, and thank Chris from the bottom of my heart for such a perfect dog and answering my weekly email questions. She knows more about chi's than most vets!!!
