I don't know where to start with this guy. Our house was lost to a hurricane and Chris Jason Smith blew into town shortly after the storm. I was having another build my house and I found Chris on craigslist when I needed cabinets made.  He met me at the local Lowe's and told me that he could make me custom cabinets quickly, of higher quality, and for slightly less that Lowe's. I looked at some work that he had done with a contractor friend. I was leaving town (to work) and took his offer.

This was just the beginning of the Chris Smith nightmare. I was living out of town and traveling for short trips to check on "progress". In the months that followed Chris took me to his shop to show me all of the "progress" that he made. Of course progress wasn't being made insideof my house, for some reason. He told me that the original "contractor" was ripping me off (which it looked like he was) andholding him back. After I canned the guy Chris proposed that he finish the entire interior of the house. I was desperate and bit.  This was a huge mistake!

Over the next months Chris gained my confidence and then started to milk my bank account.  He would call me regularly with progress reports, always asking for money.  After a while he would ask me for money for his rent.  If I get evicted thats going to shut me down.

Over the next eighteen months Chris milked tens of thousands of dollars from me. The end result were a bunch of ill fitting cabinets dumped in my yard and Chris taking a powder, after he assaulted one of my friends. He called me (when I was dealing with battery committed against my elderly mother) and told me that he had all the documentation, receipts, etc. and that I had no proof of anything).  The next day he went to the Sherriffs office to report me as having impounded his tools.  It is obvious that in addition to Chris conning me all along that he had planned his exit from my job, along with my money.

I hired a real contractor to clean up the mess left by Chris. I also quit my job and several of us worked on the house for most of a year to do the work that Chris had been paid to complete. It cost me over seventy thousand dollars to finish the work that Chris Jason Smith had promised to complete.

I cannot believe that this guy is still in town. As far as I know he has no business license of any kind. He told me himself that he hasn't paid his income taxes in many years and that the IRS was after him. He has no bank account and does all of his "banking" at a payday loan place (there's less records that way). He treats his girlfriend Sandra like dirt. He just uses her and her family like he uses everyone else.

He will kiss your butt to get the job. Then he will try to nickel and dime you until your bank account is drained. He is a dangerous person to deal with. I personally feel that Chris is a sociopath. He stalked me on facebook for almost a year, after he took off. He has never made any effort to pay me the money that he begged, borrowed and stole from me. I turned him over to a collection agency.  After a few months they called me and said that there was no way I would get a dime out of Chris. He has nothing to lose and no assets. He lives in his shop.  If you drive by note the small cameras that has has ringing the parimiter of the building.  This is so that he can see his enimies, bill collectors and "Marks" before he opens the door.

I had the Sherriff warn him to stay away from my property.  I got one guy in jail over my house rebuild. But Chris is a seasoned con man and has been very slippery.  He is worse than undependable; he is a skilled con man!

I made the biggest mistake of my life dealing with this guy.  I want to warn you so it doesnt happen to you also.  If you have any dealings with this person in the works your best move is to just walk away. You will be better off in the long run.  Any contact that you have with him will be to your detriment. 

That I guarantee.  Everything that I have said is my own opinion based on dealing with Chris Smith.  It is all true and I stand behind my words.  Don't let it be your story also.
