I bought a horse from Christine Boehle just over two weeks ago.  Prior to paying $9500.00 for an unpapered gelding called Cisco, I asked a few questions, does the horse have any medical issues, performance issues, etc.. There was a nice video on the website that showed a horse in apparently good condition, being ridden by Christine.  I did not have a trainer or a veternarian look at the horse prepurchase,  there is also a 500 mile or so location difference, I bought this horse off the internet.  Immediatly after wiring the money, She wanted board money, vet money, and began screaming at me through the phone when I called to inquire about the contract, as it bacame clear I made  a bad judgement call here and reALLy wanted my money back.. in the contract she keeps the money, even if the horse dies in her care before it is shipped.  So the horse arrived here a few days ago, the first thing I notice is a very large scar behind the left hock.  She doesn't know what that is, to quote, and now isn't taking calls or emails..  In addition, the horse refuses to move forward, but does offer to rear when cued to move forward and is too spooky to trust around family. I let her know this was to be a family horse, it was advertised as very gentle, very broke.  Planning on seeking legal advice on Monday.

The Truth of Buyers Remorse

AUTHOR: Precision Training LLC - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, October 27, 2016

Precision Training has been in business for many years.  In the last four years alone, we have sold or represented over 400 horses, and we have many satisfied customers and a lot of repeat customers.  We are a family business, and we want horses we represent to go to good homes and be a good match with their new owners.  We even decline to sell horses when we think the buyer is not the right match for them.  From time to time, we do sell horses with disposition quirks, and honesty is our only policy.  We fully disclose any issues we are aware of, and even note them in the sale contract.  Cisco was not a horse with quirks or issues – he was quiet, kind and a pleasure to ride and have at our facility.  We are dismayed that this nice boy now appears to be in the wrong home.

The complainant found Cisco advertised online, liked the sale video and told us she thought he would fit the needs of her family.  She asked if he had any health issues, and we told her the truth, that he had no health issues of which we were aware.  We disclosed that Cisco was not currently being ridden and was just living in a pasture full time with the cattle, and we noted this in the sale contract, which the complainant signed.  We asked the complainant if she would like to have a veterinarian do a pre-purchase exam, and she declined, which we also noted in the sale contract.

Shortly after the complainant purchased Cisco, our veterinarian was coming out to see another horse, so we asked the complainant if she would like to have Cisco’s Coggins and health certificate done, which is required to transport a horse across state lines and therefore a commercial shipper would need to have those papers when picking up the horse.  The complainant immediately got upset and demanded we pay for the Coggins and health certificate, even though the sale contract she signed clearly explained that this was her financial responsibility.  As we were explaining this to the complainant, she became irate, and asked for her money back, stating that it was bad judgment on her part to buy Cisco without seeing him first.  We explained we were the sales agent and had already remitted the sale proceeds to Cisco’s former owner.  However, we offered to resell Cisco for her, and she declined.

Shortly after the complainant purchased Cisco and began expressing buyer’s remorse, we had another buyer contact us who had been interested in Cisco before the complainant purchased him. This person wanted to know if the new owner would sell Cisco to him.  We contacted the complainant and told her we had another buyer who would buy Cisco from her for the same price she paid for him, and asked her if she would like us to sell him for her.  The complainant declined the offer and had the horse shipped to her.

The complainant now claims Cisco has behavioral issues, including rearing and refusing to move forward.  However, we never experienced this type of behavior from Cisco – he was always cooperative and willing, gentle and well-mannered.  As shown in our sale video, Cisco worked quietly and willingly at all three gaits, and displayed no reluctance to move forward. When the complainant contacted us and stated she was having difficulty with Cisco, we offered, in writing, for her and her family to come down to our facility with Cisco, and we would make sure all of their tack fit properly and show them how to ride him as he was presented in the sales video.  The complainant never responded.

The complainant has implied Cisco also has health issues, although she has not stated what those alleged health issues are.  Prior to Cisco’s departure from our facility, he received a veterinary examination giving him a clean bill of health.
