My wife and I were looking forward to a nice evening at Chumash casino in Santa Ynez California. We purchased our tickets to see Julio Iglesias on thursday night april 10, 2008. We drove almost two hours to get to the casino. We arrived about an hour and half before concert and picked up tickets for the show at will call. We went back to show room to make sure we knew exactly where the theatre was located. There, we we were greeted by two very nice Philippina ladies who told us where our seats would be and were kind enough to walk us to the buffet so we could have dinner prior to the show. While eating our dinner I overheard an employee of the casino tell a customer that Julio was sick and would cancell the show. After 20 to 30 minutes the casino announced this on the intercom.

My problem is not that the show was cancelled although this is the second time in as many visits that Julio has cancelled because of illness but we were told that the casino would refund our money we paid to see the show.
Today 4/16/2008 I received a credit on my tickets for $150. I was a bit confused because they had billed me a total of $161. I understand that the $11 is for service fees on the purchase and $11 is really nothing but the principal of this really does bother me. I feel that Chumash should have refunded the total, after all I received nothing. I wasted several hours of my time , spent $60 plus dollars in gas to get there and paid $50 for a terrible buffet. I called the ticketing company and they told me that was the way it is. I called Chumash hoping to get at least a meal ticket for my trouble and the extra money I was out through no fault of my own. They told me that I was out of luck and that was the way it is. Seems so weird to me that this Chumash casino would blow off a good customer for $11. Understand it's not the money, after all $11 is not so much but more the principal.

Whether or not the performance took place is really irrelevant. The service charged is for the service provided. Even though the performance did not take place (and you were refunded the money for the performance), it doesn't change the fact that you used a service (which is non-refundable). The $11 is not for the performance, therefore there is no reason to refund something that took place regardless (the service).
