You know those annoying monthly charges ... just small enough to ignore every month ... Maybe every so often you'll dispute it with the bank and they say there is nothing they can do.

Well CIC*CE Credit Report had been charging me since 2005 the $9.95 monthly credit report fee. I called them August of 2006 and told them to STOP right away. "Cancel my membership, I want to be done with this service."

Of course they tell you that the cancellation won't go into effect until 30 days and you will still be charged for the current months service. OK, take another $9.95 from me.

Well it did seem to go in to effect for a couple of months I wasn't charged, but in January they started to appear again!

So I call them again and say "Hey I cancelled your service". They confirmed the cancellation in September 2006 and have my call in August documented, BUT because the account was on auto-renew my membership started back up and they began charging my account again!

WHAT? I mean when you CANCEL something shouldn't that be it?

Now I'm out 9 months of the pesky $9.95 membership. They told me they would cancel my membership again today but what about the auto-renew? Is this hassle going to start up again in January of next year?

I requested for an address where they are located so I could report them to the Better Business Bureau. They told me they could not give that information out.

How can a legitimate business with ACH powers over my bank account NOT have a registered business address? I used to sell credit card processing services and know that Visa/Mastercard underwriting laws require physical street address, credit checks of the owners or principals of the company as well as financials, ESPECIALLY for Internet and membership transactions when the card isn't present. The burden of proof is supposed to be on the merchant.

This just wasn't acceptable to me, so I asked to be put through to a Supervisor, they put me on hoild for 10 minutes and then disconnected me.

How can this stop? It is absolutely RIDICULOUS and UNLAWFUL.

I was having the same problem with the monthly charges also, so like you I called to have them cancel my subscription. Then I read your report about It starting all over the next year and hope it doesn't happen to me. So I started looking and all I can find is a po box but here it is and hope it helps: Customer Care PO BOX 19729 Irvine,California, 92623-9729. I found it under " contact us" at freecreditreport.com. Hope you fix yours. Jerry
