CINGULAR - a years-long pattern of deceit and bad practices amounting to a gigantic rip-off!

I ill-advisedly got into a contract with Cingular over the internet. From the moment I began my time with them, they were a cost and not a benefit. I had to drive over an hour to a fedex office to pick up my 'free' phones because of their requirement for personal signature (that they did not inform me of). Then, I had a series of questions about the service which their customer service personnel could not answer. One would give one answer and another, another!

I spent over an hour on my phone with someone there, just to find out how to get to a particular symbol I needed to do a simple function! Also, ever since the service began, I experienced a high rate of dropped calls. I will even get dropped calls sitting in a place where I have 3 or more 'bars'. In addition, I get very poor quality volume and reception as well. I also have trouble with their voice mail, which often 'waits' some time before entering the call -- I once did not get a call for 3 days after it was originally recorded!

These problems are much more frequent than with T-mobile. I complain and they give me a free month, but will not let me out of my contract. They gave me the old excuse that their equipment was being worked on to upgrade their service and once that was done, all would be well.

I went on the web and found that my experience has been their level of service since about 2002 and no one is doing anything about it! They are providing a substandard product for a standard price - that is theft. Go online and you will see story after story about what apparently is their accepted company practice.

This rip-off must end. They even were thrown out of the better business bureau in one state because of this, but no action has been taken. The problems are so bad and so pervasive, one website even posts the email of CIngular's president. Join me in calling the FCC and your local Public Service Commission.

My phone is a samsung and I am happy you had good experience with them, but if you type in, for instance, Cingular+complaint, you'll see story after story about how they work. It's not pretty.

I Changed from att to cingular and I love em. I had Verizon and tmobile and even sprint and they all suck around here. I got a samsung phone 2 years ago and never had a problem with it.

Then last year I purchase and LG camera phone mistake. LG makes horrible phones it dropped calls frequently. The interecption was horrible and i was still in the same places i was with my previous phone. So I contacted cingular and they sent me a new motorolla camera phone that was selling 50 dollars more than my LG.

I then switched the sim card's and sent the LG back and have never had another problem with the phone. The interception is great and I have never had a dropped call with this new phone. this phone also has great features.

Try Calling them and asking for a different phone they will ackknolege it since you just recently purchased a new phone.
