I read the rip off reports today. It was comforting after spending 2 hours on the phone today transferred 5 times only to get back to the first lady in India again.
I explained to her I purchased a HP Laptop from a NY store location in Dec of 2003 and started having problems within a year. The laptop would power on but then do nothing. I'd just stare at a black screen. Laptop was sent to Micromedics 2-3 times always sent back with a "did not find any problems" and a bonus of a broken latch or button that was originally fine. 4th time I actually sent it in with a video of the problem only to get a reply again of could not duplicate problem. I called micromedics to find out if they even looked at the CD rom containing the video but they had nothing like that stated in their records.

Ok, so at this point I decided micromedics sucks, there were tons of complaints online so I called circuit city requesting the laptop be serviced at a different location. Mind you, I could have easily just asked for a new laptop, it was sent in over 3 times now with no repair but I didn't. I just wanted someone to actually look at my laptop to see what was wrong and let me know if it was repairable. So circuit city sent it to another company for repair. I received it back and now my laptop did absolutely NOTHING. Fed up I figured I'd have an external source repair it (who did in a couple of days), not deal with circuit city and bother requesting a new laptop just ask for a full refund of my warranty since they obviously could not provide the service the contract stated it would provide.

So now after 2 hours of phone calls and them claiming they could only refund me the prorated amount I'm expecting a call from their escalated Consumer relations team. I'm sorry but the Costumer Service TRUELY sucks at their India location. Communication is not easy and after the lady trying to make some phone calls for me comes back to say she maxed out on her allowed calls (supposedly they cant make more then 4 calls per customer) and I would have to call back immediately to talk to another rep who can make another 4 calls. WHAT?! Rediculous.

Maybe the problem really stems from the fact that the Circuit City sales reps really push the Warranty on customers with bogus lies. I have never trusted warranties and never purchased one till my salesman literally told me I could "throw the laptop on the floor and the warranty would cover a full repair or replacement." Maybe they don't really know how the extended warranty works.
