Bought a Compaq 5000US 2/11/01. After about two weeks, monitor was showing weird vertical lines. My wife called Circuit City who told her to contact Compaq. Compaq told her to buy a quick restore disk. After the usual drill on the phone with the Tech, sandisk, defrag, etc., problem persisted. Compaq tech then told my wife to wait till the Computer Support Plus Warranty kicks in on 2/11/02 so another Tech group will diagnose the problem. Meantime, I bought another monitor thinking that was the problem. It did not help. We called 1-800-555-4615 last week and the result was: Problem was either the monitor or video card according to the Tech guy who requested us to send a fax to 1-888-342-6641 with incident # 32-444-21.
I sent a letter 2/20/02 asking for resolution of problem or I will bring case to court. Note that there is no phone # to contact these guys at GE-Zurich Management.
No response until today.

YOU GOT PUNTED WHEN YOU CALLED COMPAQ , THEY DIAGNOSED A PROBLEM WITH THEIR SYSTEM AND INSTEAD OF FIXING THE PROBLEM , THEY PALMED YOU OFF ON AN EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY .IF YOUR SYSTEM FAILS WITHIN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS , CC RETURN POLICY MAY HAVE TAKEN CARE OF YOUR SYSTEM, BUT THE BOTTOM LINE WAS AND IS THIS WAS AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN UP WITH COMPAQ . READ YOUR GE CONTRACT VERY CARFULLY AND YOU WILL FIND A A CLAUSE CONCERNING REEXISTING ISSUES "ISSUES THAT OCCURED WHILE YOU WERE UNDER THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY . """"COMPAQ SCREWED YOU , NOT GE ZURICH , WHEN YOU GO TO YOUR LAWYER MAKE SURE YOU TAKE YOUR CONTRACT "
