Circuit City Sells used equipment as new & sells personal information!!!!

I bought a laptop from the Circuit City in the City of Industry, CA. Within 2 weeks of purchasing the laptop I had to return it due to malfunctioning. The laptop was not recieving any power, therefore I could not get it to turn on. I had to go to the West Covina store to pick up a new laptop, because they were out at the City of Industry store.

Before leaving to the City of Industry store I asked what would happen with all the personal information on the computer. I was assured it would be destroyed. About a month later we recieved a call from a couple who'd bought our old laptop from the Circuit City store in Pasadena. They got our number off the computer. They had been told the computer was brand new when they purchased it. Along with my phone number, bank accunt info., & address there was plenty more valuable and personal information that had been sold with that laptop.

We met the next day at the Circuit City in Pasadena and after spending hours there we were barely apologized to and offered $200.00. This was after finding out the salesman had told the couple he'd installed all the programs I had spent days installing!!! That didn't even cover the time my husband and I had to take off work, not to mention all the driving from one store to the other to resolve this issue! After a couple of weeks of hounding the corporate office and not getting returned calls I simply gave up!!! What's a person to do?!
