Jimmy Morris and Mark: You Are Both Ignorant

AUTHOR: Daniel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 21, 2008

Response to Jimmy Morris: You are a victim of stupidity. If you plan on taking great advantage of Black Friday promotions, you need to line up like all the other customers. It's your fault you felt "cheated". If we're having a blow out deal on a laptop that's marked 50% below cost, you better believe it's flying out the door. You better believe that we have limited quantities. You better believe that they will sell out at 5:02 am when the doors open at 5:00 am.

Quote From Mark: "The ITEM goes out the door at store cost plus 100 per cent interest, So they haven't lost a thing even still made money. Most items sold are priced at a 1,000 Mark up and people think they are saving money."

Mark, you obviously have no idea how retail works. NO STORE sells their items with "interest". If Circuit City did this, well, Best Buy would blow them out of the water with cheaper prices. Let's say we're looking at a Nintendo Wii, which is sold at Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of $249.99. Circuit City buys Wiis from Nintendo in bulk at $249.99. Notice anything? All brick-and-mortar retailers buy hot items like tvs, computers, etc. AT COST. This means that in order to make a profit, the sales associates must ATTACH items to that ticket. When I sell a tv at Circuit City, I have to attach items to it in order to ensure there is a profit. And these are items that you need anyway, such as a HDMI cable, surge protector, even firedog services to mount your tv on the wall (because 7 out of 10 people actually end up mounting their tv on the wall).

If CCity is selling a laptop 50% below cost, you better believe that the sales associates will be working hard to attach items to that laptop just to BREAK EVEN. The trick is retailers want to get you in the store in the first place. Why do you think when you line up at the register, there is candy all around you? To get you to buy more. That's how business works.

Get your facts straight before you fabricate lies about how a company you don't own buys merchandise to sell. I will GUARANTEE that you are not a buyer for any company, because if you were, you would know what stakes you take in buying merchandise and the prices you have to pay for them. FYI, some items are loss leaders, such as laptops. You actually lose money for every laptop you sell when it's purchased by itself. That's why we offer carrying cases, software you'll need (virus protection, Microsoft Word, etc.).

This rip off report right here is bogus. Jimmy Morris was not ripped off and Mark does not know what he's talking about.

Mark, you're an idiot.

Maybe you _should_ work at a company like this one, because then you would understand the basic principals behind accusations and the definition of "Bait & Switch", which was actually defined for you in a previous post that you chose to ignore.

Running out of a limited quantity, most likely clearance item is not baiting and switching, it's running out. Each ad has fine print that states it's limited and no rain checks could possibly be given out for product they will never receive again.

WRONG IT's A SCAM PEOPLE

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 25, 2007

I see these adds and sales BLACK FRIDAY AND where people have lost their minds and have let stores dupe them into a buying frenzy.

People camped out in tents disregarding their families and responsibilities, 2 to 3 days and nights to be first in line for that dream that IS NOT REAL CAUSE NON OF THE ITEMS ARE EVEN ON THE SHELF MOST TIMES ITS CALLED BLIND SALES. I am SO glad I don't work for those type of balls. Where oh where has common sense gone too in today's world and then people camping out what a sad state of affair.

Stores having possibly one item on the shelf,or in some old dirty stockroom that hasn't sold and then place these special adds and they know how many people WANT ONE A SCAM OF BEING HOOKED INTO A SALE. The ITEM goes out the door at store cost plus 100 per cent interest, So they haven't lost a thing even still made money. Most items sold are priced at a 1,000 Mark up and people think they are saving money. Stores doing this to get people in to make them spend their last penny saying oh we are out but we have this you can take it home on easy payments and use your card and the same thing on the shelf maybe a little later model for 4 times the amounts in the papers. What a shame WHAT AMERICA HAS COME TOO TODAY PEOPLE HAVE LOST ALL THEIR COMMON SENSE AND REAL GOODNESS FROM THEIR HEARTS to let people bleed their hard earned money for a JOKE.

Still doesn't qualify.....

....for a bait & switch, as they were already sold out by the time you decided to start shopping.

"I forgot to say that when I called Circuit City's 1-800 order line I was told that the $199.00 item that that I was wanting was sold out But they have another similar item for $459.00."

#4 Consumer Suggestion

That's not bait and switch.

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, November 24, 2007

Bait and Switch is when they advertise something in the store but have no intention of selling you that item. Instead they will tell you how bad that item is, and try to get you into a higher priced item.

What this is, is LIMITED QUANTITIES. Any good deal on electronics is going to be limited in quantity, and there was some fine print in the ad that stated this. You said you called at 10am, most Circuit Cities had been open for 1-2 hours at that time. There are people who actually camp out overnight to get these deals, I actually saw people starting to get their place in line at one of our local Circuit City stores Thanksgiving Day MORNING, for the day AFTER Thanksgiving sale.

There is a good chance that what quantitites they had were sold in the first few minutes. So the next time you see a deal like this be sure to wake up VERY early.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

I don't understand

AUTHOR: Gabriel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, November 24, 2007

How does out of stock constitute bait& switch in your mind?

Besides, what are you doing looking around so late at 10 in the morning?

You need to be up and about at least a few hours earlier than that just to have a chance at receiving a product you want. Stores do not have unlimited stock of everything they sell. Next time go directly to the website and look at the ads online and look for what you want, and if you want it bad enough, stand in line with everybody else who wants one, even if its 11 o'clock the night before.

Remember this "The early bird get the bird."

I Hate To Tell You But

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, November 24, 2007

You were probably 8 or 10 hours too late. People were lined up in front of all those stores at 1 or 2AM for their opening at 5AM. Did you see any of the riots they had on TV? They printed "limited quanties" and "in store only" in all they flyers to cover their butts. I don't bother with all that BS. Years ago, I was interested in something at radio shack. I was at radio shack at 7AM when they opened. Was one of the first customers in. They told me they had already sold 'em out. I asked 'em how could you sell them out when I was one of the first customers in the store and no one else bought one. Never did get a straight answer. They didn't have them to begin with. I hit 5 radio shacks between 7 and 10AM, none had them and never did. Haven't bought anything at radio shack since. THAT was a ripoff.
