Citi is the Financial Company that Home Depot uses when issuing you a credit card.  Citi and Home Depot often gives a promotion that says 2 years no interest.  If you do not pay after 2 years, your interest is 25.99.  I called Citi to get my interest rate lowered as I used the card at Home Depot, and Home Depot sold me a defective product that they said was guaranteed for one year.  After 4 months, the floor started to peel up.  Home depot said that they could do nothing to honor the warranty because they no longer carried the product, so I called Citi who finances Home Depot Customers.  Citi said they charge a high interest rate to consumers so that they can compensate for the money they lost on people who pay off the card within the 2 years and therefore pay no interest.  In addition, citi goes back to the date of purchase and charges interest back 24 months.  So not only are you now paying 25.99 interest, you get a huge fee for the past 24 months.  Citi did not want to hear that home depot sold me a defective product, and they would not lower the interest.

Well Im sure you have had time to contact your lawyer. What did they say? Did they tell you just what every other consumer has said? That you are on your own on this one? Or did they say you have an actual case? Just curious as to what the outcome is. Once again, NO I dont work for any of the involved parties.

Citi Defends Home Depots selling substandard materials

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Monday, October 03, 2016

Well Citi,

All I can say is good credit card companies, like Amex, backs their customers when they get ripped off. You do not.  Looks like you just don't care that the retail stores, that are your customers, you hide, when the retailer rips people off.  I go back to the credit card company and your high interest rates because I am paying YOU a fee, for one of your retailers, Home Depot ripping e off.  Since you are doing nothing, time for me to get a lawyer.

The REAL Matter Here

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, October 02, 2016

You come here to complain about this alleged failure of Home Depot to honor a warranty.  You claim they say they aren't going to honor said warranty because they no long carry the product which doesn't make the least bit of sense as there is STILL the manufacturer's warranty.  However, you spend the vast amount of your time whining about this interest free promotion.  It is OBVIOUS from what YOU wrote, YOU failed to read the terms of this promotion.

If you would have, you wouldn't be here acting surprised and wailing about YOUR FAILURE to perform withing the scope of those terms.  Those terms are each and every payment must be made on time.  Failure to do this means you forfeit the interest free bonus and you make yourself liable for interest from the first day of purchase.  Your only purpose here is to whine and wail because of your ENTITLEMENT MENTALITY.

NO RIPOFF HERE -- Complainer FAILED to abide by Interest Free promotion terms but feels ENTITLED to benefits of said promotion regardless.

Typical mouthbreather....

YOU ASSUME WAY TOO MUCH!!!! Firstly, neither HD or Citi is going to care one way or the other what YOU post. So ASSUMING that the CONSUMER who took the time to give YOU good solid advice to remedy your situation is, is  just YOU being a d****e!! Secondly, YOU have done a LOT of assumption!!! YOU have ASSUMED that Citi is going to have your back when the REALITY is that Citi is JUST the finance aspect. If Home Depot no longer carrys and item that means HD CANNOT assist you!!! The WARRANTY is WITH THE MANUFACTURER!!!!! So not only have YOU bashed TWO innocent companies, YOU have done this WILLINGLY and WITH NO PROOF OF WRONGDOING!! That makes what YOU have done a CRIME!!! Its called defamation. And BOTH parties would be WELL within thier rights to sue YOU for what YOU have posted.

And dont think that just because YOU did this on the web that THEY couldnt possibly find YOU. THAT would be ANOTHER ASSUMPTION on your part that is an error!! STOP ASSUMING!!!! Its doing nothing but putting a bullseye on YOU!!! YOU CHOSE to NOT pay off what YOU OWED to Citi. YOU MADE THAT CHOICE YOURSELF!!! YOU then ASSUMED that because YOU had a product issue that YOU didnt have to PAY FOR IT!!!! Its YOUR CREDIT!!! Keep assuming and keep doing what YOU have WILLINGLY done and YOU will just end up with horrible credit and a potential lawsuit on your neck. CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER!!!! They are the only one who can help you.

STOP BEING A LAZY MOUTHBREATHER!!! STOP BLAMING OTHERS FOR THE CHOICES YOU HAVE MADE!!!! I swear as an adult you shame us all!!! After RE-reading your post I realize that there is NOTHING anyone can do for you as it is well BEYOND the 1 year as YOU have posted the information. YOU used the card to pay for the item but whine that they are charging YOU the FULL two year amount. Which means that the REAL issue is that YOU DIDNT PAY WHAT YOU OWED AND CITI DIDNT BUY THE LINE OF BULLCRAP YOU WERE TRYING TO SELL!!!! Get over it, YOU screwed yourself over by NOT paying it off in the 24 months given to YOU.

Citi Does Nothing to Satisfy Customer

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Sunday, October 02, 2016

Well Citi, that says it all.  Point the finger at a vendor that you support, and jusify what you do to your own customers.  Your rebuttal says it all.  Citi is a rip off, just like home depot.  Remember customers, Citi does nothing to help.  You could buy a product from a retailer, that is a total lie, and citi will do nothing about it. By the way Home Depot, Citi just threw you under the bus!

You Had No Idea, Right? Why Is That?

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, October 01, 2016

Let's start with some "givens".  It's YOUR car and YOUR name is on the contract.  If the payment is not made, YOUR car gets repo'ed!  The possibility of that and repercussions are serious.  The bank account from which payments are to be deducted is YOUR account containing YOUR money, right? For two months you say these payments were not deducted and for TWO months YOU had ZERO idea?  For TWO months, YOU failed to balance YOUR checking account using the figures in YOUR check register versus the bank's figures.  In fact, YOU don't even keep a check register with an on-going running balance, do you?  If YOU would have been managing YOUR own checking account, YOU would have caught the first lack of payment deduction and avoided all this!  I'll bet even today YOU don't have s check register and can tell how much money you really have there!

NO RIPOFF HERE -- Complainer failed to catch first lack of car payment deduction because complainer fails to properly manage checking account!

The lender has no authority over the product

AUTHOR: FloridaNative - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, October 01, 2016

I understand what you are saying: you purchased a defective product from Home Depot and borrowed the money from Citi by charging it on your credit card. Citi gave you a special promotion of deferred interest: no interest would be paid by you if you paid off within the interest-free period of 2 years. If you failed to pay it off in time, then all the accrued interest is added to your account.

Your lender (Citi credit card) has nothing to do with the products you buy. To ask Citi to compensate you for a defective product you purchased from Home Depot is unreasonable.

Your remedy would be to go to Home Depot for a defective product resolution. Go up the chain of command until you get a satisfactory response. Or,  you could go to the manufacturer of the product to get your resolution.  The manufacturer is the one that produced the defective product and is the best place to solve your problem.

As to not paying off the debt within the two-year guideline, that is a choice you made every month for 24 months. It isn't the fault of Citi. By the way, those deferred interest deals are all over the place with retail charge cards so if you have others on a zero promo, read your terms and conditions so you know when to pay it off. I usually pay off at least 30 to 60 days before the promo ends so there is no danger of missing the date. Good luck in getting your floor issue resolved.
