In May of 2012, I was in a car accident. After that My husband approached Citi to try to have the mortage renegotated because he was having to assume all of the bills. Citi was only willing to offer him deferments as a solution. In the early part of 2013 Citi staff began calling our home. I called them back to find out what was happening.  I was told they could not talk to me. I explained that I was the wife,co-owner of the property.

That I had been in an accident. My husband was having to carry the full load of financial responsiblity since I could not work. I informed them that I was the co-owner and that this was bizarre that they could not talk to me as I was the co-owner. "I needed a letter/note from my husband"."Because,he was the primary person on the account. I have sent letters to Citi on several occassions about this situation.

I sent a copy of a consumer letter where my husband had requested change in mortage payements. All the while Citi would send letters saying they wanted to help us, want to work with us.The only thing thay where willing to offer was deferrement. short sales,of a leins deed, foreclouses. The paperwork they would send out would say mortage payments could be renegotiated. When in reality that was never an option.

I was eventually informed because I was not originally put on the orginal mortage that was not an option for us.Despite, the numerous letters that they sent out that said that refiniancing was an option. They did not clearly ever in non legal terms ever inform me that Citi was taking my rights away. They did not inform us that we could not renegotate or have payments altered unless both partners where included on the mortages.

All Citi has shown any seriously interest in was selling our house out from under us,deferrment, or foreclosure,or leins deed. To make matters worse. Even though I was not considered "a primary barrower" and "someone they could not communicate with on decisions".

Now, that  I am approaching the point where I am beginning to start being able to be employed again.  I found out Citi dropped two negative credit reports on my credit rating.Citi can't talk to me. But,  they can disregard my wishes, they can take my home, and damage my professional status, and employablity.

Jim,

In your comments the simple fact of the matter is Citi was one of the Lending companies that was bailed out by the United States Government several years ago. The Government gave them time, support,to restructure. Basically, the Government should have allowed Citi to fail from what you are saying. It's just business.

My husband asked early on in the event.I later asked several times.

When a company says: If you are having problems here are some options, and puts it in writing,we can work with you.

But, then avoids, or won't even go over the option of refinancing a mortage, denies that is even an option available or says it can't even be considered based on who was or was not on the mortage at the beginning.

In the meantime, it may look like there is an effort being made. The letters looks hopeful. Citi will call, and call, and call. But, it would be the same story.Deferrment, short sell, lien deed or forclosure. No refinancing.

When My Husband first went to finacing Citi staff was sweetness and light. Ms...We want you here. We want you to know nothing is going on behind your back. I would deliver payments to the office.

After they changed branches, after my accident and after I called to find out why calls were coming in. Ms.."We can't talk to you". "We have to have a note from your Husband". I wrote out a note for my husband to sign.

At the bottom, he wrote basically,Don't bother they won't do anything! Meaning they won't offer the other option of refinace. I sent it to them! To this day they have not offered the option to refinance. They should not even put it in their letters or write it in letters if they will not honor it!.

Where in the contract does it say they are your financial advisor?  Where does it say they are required to "help" you?  While what may have happened to you is regrettable, this bank or any other bank's only interest is being paid on time, every time.  You're a working person, right?  What if the boss comes to you saying "we need to talk about how and when you get paid and we'd like to skip the next two months paychecks and give them to you 20 years from now?  As far as your credit report...if you are on the contract and you were late making payments, then that information has a right to be there.  Of course, you do know you have the option of adding to your credit reports a statement explaining you were late because of an unforseeable incident.

Oh yes, I don't work for them!
