I have never felt so betrayed, misrepresented, and lied to so many times as when dealing with Citi Mortgage! 3 years ago we began having hardships due to the economy, we began requesting a loan modification before we were even late, at this time you had to be 3 months delinquent before they would even assist us. Against our better judgement we let the mortgage lapse 3 months and once again called Citi and asked for help with a modification. "Thats when their fun really began." We are self employed, so we were requested to send in substancial financial information, which we faithfully did and were requested to follow up at least once a week to see if any additional info was needed." We did so faithfully". Not only was updated information requested regularly, but previously submitted information also, when I would respond I had already submitted the requested info, they would respond by saying do it again! "We really wanted this modification it is family owned property and we were willing to do everything we could to save it." We jumped through hoops, stood on our heads, and did back flips for them, finally after a year and a half we were offfered a modification trial payment, that was readily agreed upon by both parties, we were so excited we were going to have a payment we could afford, and save our home of 20 years. We were told that if we made our payments for 3 months and were not late they would permenantly modify our loan, we were requested also to still follow up at least once a week, to make sure no other documentation was needed. "As usual updated info was requested regularly and previously submitted information also, with the comment if you really want this modification you will submit what is asked, so we did! This went on for 8 months, payments were continually made faithfully until July of 2011 when we received a letter from Citi Mortgage stating, we were going to be turned down for our modification because they felt like it! Our home was in foreclosure and seriously delinquent, the payments we had made, made no difference, they said we were behind $90,000.00 and the only option was a repayment plan of $25,000 up front and a monthly payment of $7,000, Hello you jerks we, were working on a modification because we could not afford the original payment of $3,487 I started to think, they never had any intention of modifying from the beginning. So we hired CC Brown Law firm to do this for us, I had to submit all the info all over again to the attorney and was guaranteed, they would not take our case unless they were sure they would win! Wow I must have idiot stamped on my forehead. Still jumping through hoops $ 5,000 paid to CC Brown Law Firm they postponed our sale date by 5 months and we were foreclosed on Feb 23, 2012 Due to alleged investors who hold their hand from helping homeowners achieve the modification they are entitled to. Since the foreclosure I have received 2 letters from Citi stating they have received our escalated requests and hope to have an answer within 15 days! Citi mortgage staunchly refuses to help home owners and have used flirtations investment groups and banks as their pawns. Citi mortgage purportedly receive 15 billion dollars of bail out money to help homeowners stay in their homes. The CEO Mr Das "meaning audacity in Iran" has been a recluse since the recession, and will not speak or get involved with homeowners, if letters are sent they are returned to sender "Not at this address" Research stongly indicateds Citi MOrtgage is above the law. We are victims of thieves and liars, if we continue to let them do this to us and no one stands up, were will America be in 5 years, destitute, still in debt and the Banks will own everything. It may be to late for me, but if I can help anyone else and bring them down, it will all be worth it. I want to be proud to be an American, but right now I am pretty ashamed. Life for me has been hell for over 3 years, and if I can help anyone, mission accomplished. There was no reason we had to lose our home, we could have paid our payment. Now 6 people and 6 animals are looking for a home, so that we do not freeze when they lock us out." Utah in February not fun, people are a little concerned with renting to a family of that magnitude."
