I got an Auto Loan through a Car Dealership. I did not car who it was really, but now it is an issue. Citifinancial seems to be a rip off company.

They offered to amend my loan and lower my interest rate so my payments were more affordable. After some proof of income and personal info was sent to them, they asked for a qualifying payment of 563.15, so I did it, a phone payment from my bank Wells Fargo. After around 2 weeks had passed. I called to see if the amendment was complete, they did not know yet and said they would call me. Around 2 weeks later a total of 1 month, They said they could not do it because the payment did not clear. I called my bank and they said it did clear, this is where the nightmare became out of control. Citi asked for proof, the bank provided a statement of my account and a notorized letter and a phone call to Citi, all of this was not acceptible. This went on for 2 weeks, finally Citi said they found the payment and it had been applied to a wrong account, but too do the amendment they needed another qualifying payment. So I did it, same thing all over again except that this time they sent me a letter telling me my amendment had been done and my new payment amount and date. I signed it and faxed it in as requested. Payment was not due for 45 days. During this 45 days I have had 50 more calls from them, saying there was not only an issue with the 2nd amendment payment but also the 1st amendment payment that they said was ok a few weeks earlier. I have had 4 account reps since this started, the 1st was fired I was told, the second was also no longer with the company, but no reason was given. I asked for a manager, and was told more than 10 times he was not available. I do not know what to do now. I can not pay them the money my bank has said has already been paid. Wells Fargo has tried to help me, but during a phone call from the Asst manager of my branch was talked to rudely and hung up on, they can not help me. I have my statements that say these payments went through the bank. The latest thing to happen is that Citifinancial tried to put another payment through my old bank that I have not had an account with for more than 5 months. Now they are calling to tell me that both payments and the new one they tried to put through un approved by me are all an issue. Of course the one they did without my approval is an issue, one nothing was due and two I know longer have an account with that bank. I already mailed my 1st new amended payment 5 days ago. They could not tell me what would happen to this payment, and threatned to have my car repocessed? How can this happen. I have not done anything wrong, the money has been paid by my bank and I have proof, but they will not accept anything anyone has too say, Wells Fargo included.

I need the car and do not want to have more issues with my credit report, plus I like the car, it has been a good one.

Is there any protection from these companies for the consumer, or can they just do whatever they want to do not matter what I prove or pay?
