Are the victims of a fraud likely to put forward their point of view face to a multinational financial company? Not with Citifinancial in any case.

The history begins to July 2005 where I agrees to help a woman to settle in a new city. The lady not knowing anybody, she asked me to help it to get some furnitures with Leon's furnitures of Sudbury, Ontario. As proof of address, the store requires to provide evidence of residence and obviously, a credit card having only to be used to prove the identity of the holder. This last gives its number of chart by meaning to him well that it acts only one proof of identity. However, the store took again the number of credit card by considering the holder as the financor of this purchase even if the lady signed the invoices as being that which carried out the purchases. Later, she come back at the store to buy other furnitures and used again the number of credit card without my assent. The final invoice rises around $7 000. Then, Leons store send invoices at Citifinancial which is charged to collect the amount of the sale. The company baited me since by badgering continuously and by threatening it so much so, that I was obliged to take refuge elsewhere to avoid the physical and financial sanctions that Cityfinancial makes me each day. In spite of many calls to try to explain my case, Citifinancial forever refused to look at the my file even if I clearly showed that the purchases was made by madam and that it is with her Citifinancial also should claimed the amounts. Under pretext of conform to the law, Citifinancial continuous to harass me so much so that I yielded first once to pay part of the amount claimed by hoping that the legal proceeding that I started against madam can return justice to me. However, the deadlines being very long (between 6 and 8 months), Cityfinancial continues its blackmail by threatening mister of seizure, the ruin of its credit and other physical threats.

This way of acting push directly Citifinancial to protect the defrauders and considering the victim as a criminal and this, without any regard to its financial standing and its ethical integrity. Citifinancial keep a large door open to the defrauders who can benefit with impunity the generosity of people without being worried in any way. According to the company, the law prohibits to contact the identified defrauder if it does not appear in the contracts. However, the name of madam and its signature appear well in all the contracts signed with its own adress of the moment. This obstinated attitude to recognize the obviousness places Citifinancial to encourage the defrauders to act with their own way and leave no chance to the victims to show the fault and to make it possible to undertake a law-suit.

According to the Legal Assistance Bureau of Quebec, Citifinancial should check the customers documents and assist it in its step as well as a normal customer to join the fraudulent person and to claim the directly which had amounts to him. If the name of madam did not appear nowhere, it is quite certain that the step of mister would be useless but it is not the case. Mister is right to pursue Madam but Citifinancial should at least cease its harassing and to consider it while waiting for the end of the legal procedures. It is strange that for a multinational financial company established well, this one drops to the row of an agency of collection whose tactics of covering concern the wild dictatorship. It should normally set up a structure which makes it possible the victims of fraud to explain and to show their case like one does it for an investor or a borrower. But at Citifinancial, it is not the case, this one having only for single obsession to claim the money without any form of professional ethics.

Harassing and continual threats have indeed psychological stressing and demoralizing which wound the victim so much that I paid finally a part of the amount to try to have peace whereas the true problem, which is the fraud, is deliberately ignored by the Cityfinancial. It is necessary to be extremely wary of this kind of company and to avoid the stores which make deal with them. It should be checked if it is possible to be supported in the event of fraud and not to be taken with defrauders protected by Citifinancial.

Other ways of proof of Residence then a credit card

You set yourself up for this by providing a credit card number. Since you provided it willingly you are liable for any charges made on it. There are other means of proof of residence like an electric bill or phone bill they more then likely would have sufficed.

Did you notify law enforcement of this activity?? What did they say?? If you would have filed a police report you could have shown that the charges were illegally made and then had the charges cancelled or contested.

I am not sure of the Canadian laws just my two cents. Unfortunately good people like yourself are targets for low life scum that take advantage of kindness and cheat the people that tried to help them get off to a good start.
