About 2 weeks ago I recieved my bank statement from Citizens Bank stating that I was -$2 in my account. I was puzzled because I have overdraft protection which draws it right from my savings. I was also told that this was a "No maintenance account." So before I could even investigate, I was sent a letter stating that I was $72 overdrawn. I called to find out why. They said that after being in the negitive for 6 days, they charge a finance fee of $35. I asked where was my notice? They said I should have recieved one, but I never did.
So, I asked why was my account overdrawn $2 in the first place and they said I was charged $2 for a balance inquiry. I never payed for a balance inquiry in my entire life!! When I opened the account I was told that if I "withdraw money" from a non-Citizens Bank ATM that I would be charged a fee, not if I got a balance inquiry. I told that to the customer service representative and to their manager and I was shocked at what they said next. The manager said that if I don't ask, then they won't tell me!
I read through my paper work and did not find written down anywhere that If I made an inquiry, that I would be charged, No bank does that! So after 5 more calls to the bank, they agreed to credit my account $35. Thanks Citizens Bank, Thanks for nothing!!! I still owe $37 and I should not owe anything at all! I will be closing my account!

Non-bank ATM fee...
AUTHOR: Striderq - (U.S.A.)

Many banks charged a fee if you use a non-bank ATM for any transaction, to include a balance inquiry. This is on top of whatever fee the bank that owns the ATM might charge. If there are any ATMs from your bank available, it makes sense to use them and not be charged any fee at all.

I received a call the same night from the bank manager Olga. She was wonderful!! She applyed the $72 back to my account. Her exact words were " I understand that you are new to the bank and that you didn't know about the charges. I may work here, but Im still human." And she refunded my account!!! Dave Buke on the other hand, sucks as a manager and a person!!
