The subject is that you broke a web sites rules and you got a time out and you're having a childish hissy fit.  Actually that would be demeaning to children.  I can guaranty that my 7 year old grand daughter knows that if you break the rules, there are consequences.  The fact that other people break them too is completely irrelevant.

Actually, my child hasn't. I monitor what my child watches on televison. My child does not watch programs without me present in the room. That forum is not for adults only, if it were it would be 18 and up. The fact is they allow anyone 13 years of age or older to join. If you want to have an adults only forum, then join one and keep the kids out. You don't need to curse in order to converse freely, in fact it makes you look unintelligent to curse in a public forum.

yes, it is a big deal on a public forum. They have rules for a reason. WOuld you swear in front of my child and then proceed to educate me about how its not THAT big a deal? Its improper to do in a public forum. You should not be cursing in any sort of place that children could be reading. I see nothing on that website restricting access to those over 18, so they are well within their rights to enforce rules on profanity.

They absolutely have the right to do as they see fit on their website. You absolutely have the right to go on other websites and complain about it. I was wondering how long it would take for you to accuse someone of being a mod on that website. Here's a tip: Until yesterday I had never been to that website. Never. I didn't even know it existed. I frequent this website and respond to dozens of baseless reports everyday. Why? Because its people like you that muddle up this website with illigitimate reports. You broke that website's terms of service. You got banned. Where's the ripoff? They did *EXACTLY* as they promised they would when you signed up for your account.

Is it unfair that they don't ban others for the same thing? ABSOLUTELY! However, no one said they had to be fair. Its their website, they can be as unfair as they like with their property. Is it bullying? Perhaps it is, but if you dont like it THEN DON'T POST THERE.

One of the other forums I participated in had an obnoxious hothead like you that repeatedly got banned and was upset like you.  People suggested that he start his own forum, which he did after they banned him permanently.  I have visited it a few times and found that he bans for more people than the original forum.  Why? he is an intolerant hothead and does not like anyone to disagree with him.  If they do, he shuts them out.  He thinks that's perfectly acceptable because now it's HIS rules. You know what, even though he is incredibly unfair and has a quick temper, he is perfectly within his rights to do that.  I am perfectly able to avoid it and I do, that's my prerogative.

Robert's right, its a privately owned website. They can do what they want on their forums. If they want to inconsistantly apply their terms of service, that's their perrogative. In your particular case, it doesn't MATTER what everyone else is doing, you freely admit that you violated the terms of service and got a ban for it. You knew you shouldn't have posted it, but you did anyways. If  a cop is sitting somewhere and 4 cars go by speeding and then you, and he decides to pull you over, you don't get out of the ticket by crying "why didn't you pull those people over?"

If you've got such a problem with their inconsistencies, then call them on it. Make a big stink on the posts in violation. Report the posts yourself.

Second, a private web site does not have to be fair, it's their web site.  That's been tested in the courts. 

I used to work for a school system and witnessed kids being seriously bullied on the internet and in person (the school did not tolerate it),  Believe me, merely banning someone from a forum (unfairly or not?) does not come close to what bullying laws and policies are trying to address.

I DO own a computer services company in western NY and I know of NO LAW, present or pending, that makes such a banning on a website illegal by equating the banning with cyber bullying.  With that said, the burden is on YOU to PROVE what you claim.

I would submit - just for you to reflect upon for a moment - the possibility that the moderators on the site suspended you not just for the usage of one word one time, but rather because through the total amalgam of your posts they can sense who you are.  A person who would post their dissatisfaction with a moderated discussion group on rip off report (Did you pay for anything?  How were you ripped off?), a person who researches the law on cyber bullying and forum posting rules and plots their vengeance (did it really hurt you so very much?), a person who use such phrases as "I will do all within my power!" over really a rather trivial provocation.   Perhaps the moderators have you singled out as someone who regularly posts things that don't add to the discussion in any real way, a person who will make trouble in annoying ways if allowed to stick around.  Just perhaps.

I have to say that I do love rip off report for its entertainment value.  "I WILL DO ALL WITHIN MY POWER!!!"  -- such hyperbole makes me picture you hiding in your remote secret lair, stroking a cat and giggling maniacally.

But maybe I am being unfair and I am the jerk.  Could be.

Uh....I think that if the same thing had happened to YOU, you would be just a little upset.

The thread was about people in line behind WIC customers. One poster had written a personal anecdote about a WIC user who had a major attitude towards the cashier, and held up the line for 15 minutes.

I responded to him/her saying what a b**** that woman was.  For that they temp banned me for 3 days. The ban is long over but I haven't posted since, as I don't care to post on a site where you can't really respond naturally. I don't like my posts to seem stilted.

Now the main problem I have is that you can read any 10 threads and find the B word, undeleted and those posters unpunished. This is patently UNFAIR.  The second problem I have is that my DMs to not only the administrator, but also the senior moderator Marka and the moderator who took the punitive actions against me IGNORED my dms, asking for explanation as to why it was fair to punish me, yet let so many other posters who use abusive language go unpunished.

The surprise is on them though. I have been researching law and with the new anti-bullying, discrimination laws going on the books, you CANNOT ban someone from a public website UNLESS you are applying those rules fairly and evenly. It's actually classified now as cyber bullying and city data could get into a lot of trouble for this.

Could you elaborate the situation more? What was the topic you were posting? How the thread on the forum went from starting to the point when you posted? And what was the content you responded (please rephrase without using a foul word)? I just want you to clarify the situation, so that others don't misinterpret your situation.

Everything within your power???  I cant believe they temporarily banned postings from a man with such an obvious sense of good will and comraderie.  Amazing.

Why not sit back, relax a few days and take this as an opportunity to reflect that you might be taking this whole internet message board thing just a BIT too seriously.
